She needs you now more than ever. During these difficult times we need to heal together.

We are the frontline workers of Vancouver Nisa Homes and we have been working very closely with the women and children in need of our services. The reason we decided to become champions is because we see first hand the high demand for this service in our community. Nisa Homes is a constant reminder that nothing should be taken for granted as many women and children are not safe in their own homes, with some not even having a home. 
We still remember the night we received a phone call from a refugee single mom. She had three children with her, and they stayed an entire night at Tim Hortons because they had no where else to go. And this is just one of the many calls we receive a week (on average 10 calls a week!), right here in the lower mainland. 
Just last week, we received a call from an Imam asking if we have a place for a woman and her two young children. The woman has been experiencing physical, emotional, and mental abuse from her husband; abuse worsened by the current quarantine. Again, unfortunately, all these stories are from our own community. 
Now more than ever we need to keep our doors open. Many women have told us clearly that without a place like Nisa Homes in place, they would never have felt comfortable seeking support.

The need
We always get asked why we work or volunteer at Nisa Homes with the difficult stories we have to see. The answer is simple: Nisa Homes is fulfilling a huge gap in our community, we have seen the need, and we are honoured to be part of this mission that helps women see and achieve peace and strength. A community is always strongest together.

What is Nisa Homes?

Nisa Homes is the largest group of transitional homes (long-term shelters) for Immigrant, Refugee and Muslim women who are fleeing domestic abuse, experiencing homelessness or forced resettlement. We provide women with a safe space and services to help them get back on their feet and restart their lives.
