This fundraiser will help Dr. Basil from Gaza complete his medical training, secure his future as a doctor, and provide lifesaving care to those in need.

Dear Humanity,

My name is Basil Mohammed. I am a fresh medical graduate from Gaza, and this fundraiser is my last hope to continue my journey as a doctor. With urgency and desperation, I am reaching out for your compassionate support to help me complete my training and secure a future where I can truly make a difference.

From a young age, I dreamed of becoming a doctor—not for the title, but to heal, to serve, and to stand beside those in pain. But life had other plans. My journey has been anything but straightforward; it has been a battle against time, war, and displacement.

I was supposed to graduate years ago. Instead, my education was interrupted—not once, but twice. First, war erupted in Sudan, where I was studying medicine. I lost everything—my studies, my stability, my sense of direction. I had to start over. When I finally returned to Gaza, another war began.

For months, I remained in Gaza, volunteering in hospitals. I witnessed unimaginable suffering—children fighting for their lives, families torn apart, doctors working with no resources, no rest, and no certainty of survival. But it wasn’t just the hospitals that were suffering; Gaza itself was in ruins. There are no hospitals left. No infrastructure. No basic necessities. People live without electricity, without clean water, without anything that makes life bearable.

Staying in Gaza meant staying in a place with no future. My family, still there, has lost everything—our home, our livelihood, our sense of safety. My father lost his only source of income when his workplace was completely destroyed. Now, my family is trapped with no way out, and they have no one to rely on but me. I am their only hope.

At some point, I had to make an impossible choice: stay where my future was blocked or leave to finish my education and secure a future where I could truly help. I made the painful decision to leave Gaza and continue my studies in Egypt. The war in Sudan had made returning impossible, as my university had closed due to the ongoing conflict. I completed my final semester at an official center affiliated with my Sudanese university, and against all odds, I finally graduated.

But my journey is far from over. To officially practice medicine, I must now complete a mandatory one-year clinical internship before I can secure a job. However, before I can begin, I need to have my qualifications recognized in the country where I plan to work. The costs of validating my degree and obtaining the necessary permits total no less than $10,000—an amount I cannot afford on my own. And that’s just the beginning.

Since Gaza no longer has hospitals, I have no choice but to continue my journey abroad. This means I must:

Complete my internship

Take professional English and German courses to meet visa and licensing requirements

Pass the IELTS exam, necessary for visas in countries like the UK

Take the PLAB exam (UK medical licensing test), which costs around $5,000 (including registration, travel, and accommodation)

Secure a pathway to medical specialization, which costs at least $10,000 before I can finally get a stable job as a doctor

Purchase a laptop, subscriptions to medical courses, and medical textbooks for my studies, which will cost approximately $5,000

I am not asking for charity—I am asking for the chance to build a future, to stand on my own feet, and to become a doctor who can make a real impact. My family has lost everything—our home, our income, our security. They have nothing left but their hope in me. I want to be the person who rebuilds, who brings hope, and who ensures that their sacrifices were not in vain.

Every dollar donated is a step toward that future. A future where I am not just surviving, but healing, helping, and giving back. With your support, I can finish what I started. I can overcome the last obstacles standing between me and my dream. I can finally take my place where I belong—in a hospital, saving lives.

With gratitude and hope,

Basil Mohammed
