My children, 12-year-old Hanan, 15-year-old Jihan, and 16-year-old Said, were forced to evacuate from Gaza. I had always wanted my children to come join me in the United States in order to get a better education but I never imagined the genocide that has broken out in Gaza. 

Their home in Gaza is now a pile of rubble in Gaza. The kids were forced to evacuate before the bombing.

I see my children struggling, especially when they think about the family still in Gaza. They are filled with anxiety and guilt. They regularly have panic attacks worrying about the people they left behind. My parents, siblings, and their father remain in Gaza. It was the first time they had to leave their family, so it's been a big struggle for them. 

Life in the United States has been a relief for my children,  but definitely an adjustment. We are all crammed into a one-bedroom home that I have been subletting. My kids are sleeping on the couches and the floor.

I had to stop working to take care of my children.

I am trying to find a new home for me and my four children and meet some of their basic necessities.
