Standing Together

Here's our opportunity to pay the goodwill of the Western Massachusetts community forward. Two years ago, the interfaith community came together to raise funds for our masjid, successfully raising over $30,000. InshAllah we can now do the same.

Goodwin’s chapel building was built in 1910 and is in on the National Registry of Historic Buildings. The oil burner has died and must be replaced.

Goodwin's History

Goodwin Memorial African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Zion Church is an African American congregation which grew out of the Zion Church. AME Zion is known as “The Freedom Church”. The building requires extensive repairs to continue serving present and future generations of the local African American community. The congregants of the church are an important part of the interfaith community, helping to support a local survival center among many other activities.

The Repairs

The building requires immediate repairs totalling $11,500 - plus additional restoration needs totalling at least another $40,000. The church’s restoration plan includes replacing the furnace, completing other urgent repairs, and raising matching funds.

Immediate needs:
$4,500 new oil burner
$4,000 Wash & paint exterior shingles
$2,500 removal of diseased trees overhanging building
$500 replace termite damaged window sills
$11,500 Total immediate needs
