Immortalizing the Children of Gaza

It's a book :) - of names, faces and stories of Palestine's most important type of people - children. 

How It Started

“The Little Faces of Gaza” began as a series of social media posts containing a list of names of children under the age of 18 who lost their lives in the Israeli assault, dubbed "Operation Protective Edge" by Israel and the media, last summer in Gaza. For each of the 51 days I posted as many stories and photos as I could find about every child on the day they died last year. For those who would like to see the full list – click here. There are 689 names of children on this list and photos for only 118 of them.

More Than Just Numbers

The Next Phase: I’m taking the social media posts and turning them into a book – in an effort to immortalize the children who lost their lives and pay respects to their families. However, the book will only be published when a photo and story are connected with every or at least most of the children on the list – it will take some time until completion, but the efforts are more than worth it. I feel that a more completed version for print is the only appropriate way for this to be done.

The Goal

My goal is to raise $10,000 before November 1st in order to cover editing/publishing/printing fees for the book. This is the estimated cost of production that I’ve been given by publishing companies and people who have done similar projects in the past. 

What Happens After Book Sales?

The best part – is that all of the proceeds made from book sales upon completion of the project, will go directly to the families of the children in the book – in an effort to help them to continue to survive in what is the world’s most densely populated, largest open air prison of a city.
