As COVID-19 spreads, we are working with Helping Hand to provide Rohingya refugees with basic necessities and essential healthcare supplies.

Students4Rohingya in partnership with HHRD

Note: This campaign has ended, but we are still continuing to raise funds with Helping Hand for Relief and Development. Check out our new fundraiser here!

The Rohingya refugee camps are the densest refugee camps in the world. Last month, two Rohingya refugees were the first positive COVID-19 cases in the camp. Now, there are almost forty cases, with the first two deaths reported a few days ago. With almost a million people residing in these camps, COVID-19 can have a devastating impact.

The camps lack the resources needed to prevent the spread of this deadly virus. The density of the population does not allow them to maintain social distancing measures. These camps lack basic necessities such as soap, water, and masks, making hygienic procedures to contain the spread very difficult. Funds are also needed to sanitize facilities and educate Rohingya on how to prevent the spread of the virus. Now, more than ever, aid is needed to provide these resources to the Rohingya refugee camps.

Violence, starvation, and HIV are a few of the countless atrocities the Rohingya already face. Currently, hundreds and thousands of Rohingya are in need of shelter, food, supplies, and medical aid. Now, with the onset of COVID-19, we cannot stand by and watch our Rohingya brothers and sisters suffer without attempting to help.

Help us combat COVID-19 in refugee camps by providing shelters, washrooms, water and sanitation supplies, hygiene kits, feminine hygiene, healthcare, and medical supplies for clinics!

All donations are Zakat-eligible and tax-deductible. Helping Hand for Relief and Development is a Registered 501(c)(3), Tax ID 31-1628040.

HHRD Medical camps have 2 doctors, 2 nurses, and 1 pharmacist to provide medical assistance basic dental treatment for refugees. Daily medical services for over 150 people help those prone to illnesses and water-borne diseases. Help safe a life!

Feed a Family

Orphans and Children

$500 provides for 1 child

They will also learn prayers; study Mathematics, English, Science, Quran, and Burmese; and receive opportunities for recreational and extra-curricular fun.

Shelter of Hope

$840 provides a shelter for a refugee family

Each home has two rooms, plus balcony, and is made with bamboo and tarpaulin that can sustain high winds and rains. Homes are provided with solar-powered electric fixtures such as fans, bulbs, etc. and can house a family of 6. Join us in our effort to keep a family safe and secure from weather elements and invasion of privacy by supporting our Shelter Home project.

Washrooms

$900 provides one unit of restroom in a 5 units project

Every day 4,000 people benefit from HHRD’s WASH program restroom units at the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazaar, Bangladesh. Having escaped persecution without anything but the clothes on their back, these families are struggling to survive and rebuild their lives. Helping them allows HHRD to bring hope and comfort to those who have lost everything.

Water for Life

$2,500 provides one water project for the refugees

With the looming threat of waterborne diseases, HHRD has provided the construction of 260 deep water wells, and 300 toilets to fulfill basic human needs. Hygiene kits accompanied by workshops provide affective strategies of keeping clean in these unfortunate living conditions. When you help a family receive water, the impact is far greater than you can imagine.
