Alhamdulillah, the new Malawi masjid project has been completed.

• A new 10 metre x 6 metre masjid

• A new furnished home for the Imam and his family

• A new kitchen with pots, plates and utensils

• Toilets and ablution facilities (male & female)

• Janaza (funeral) biers

• Solar electricity for the complex

• Madrassa uniforms for all learners

• Qurans, books and kitabs

• Black boards

QURBAN

We have been running a Qurbaan campaign for about 12 years with the specific purpose of providing meat for our feeding initiative that runs throughout the year. The good support for 2019’s Qurban campaign ensured that we had a sufficient supply of meat not only for our normal feeding requirements, but also additional feeding during the past six months, on account of the increased demand therefor created by the socio-economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We offer Qurban services at cost price, which entails the slaughtering, cleaning and cutting of good quality cattle and sheep. We do, however, request that we retain the meat for use in our feeding programme which, as mentioned above, will assist us to meet the increased demand for feeding due to the current circumstances created by Covid-19.

It is our humble request that if you intend to perform Qurban this year, to please allow us to do it on your behalf. Your reward will be double, inshaa Allah, as you will be fulfilling the great Sunnah of Qurban as well as contributing to feeding the needy.

With your help, we have now served over half a million meals. Please share our campaign with friends and family members.

Our feeding programme continues after Ramadan. We estimate it to carry on until October 2020 due to the effects of Covid19.

Alhamdulillah, with your support we have served over 300,000 meals to date.

Senior citizens at Oakhaven Old Aged Home in Cape Town were treated to a warm meal by our Heideveld feeding volunteers.

"Thank you very, very much for all your effort. Whatever you’ve done for Oakhaven home, you know this is a difficult time for (the senior citizens). They don’t have any visitors, they’ve got nothing. Their highlight of the day is a nice plate of food. Thank you very much and may God bless you; may Allah grant you whatever you need and your heart desires."

Alhamdulillah, we are now feeding over 10,000 poor people daily!

Alhamdulillah, the granddaughter of one of our cooks embraced Islam.

There is a poem written in the 19th century by an English Poet, Leigh Hunt, that encapsulates what we are trying to do, be of service to humanity.

Abou Ben Adhem

Abou Ben Adhem (may his tribe increase!)

Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace,

And saw, within the moonlight in his room,

Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom,

An angel writing in a book of gold:—

Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold,

And to the presence in the room he said,

"What writest thou?"—The vision raised its head,

And with a look made of all sweet accord,

Answered, "The names of those who love the Lord."

"And is mine one?" said Abou. "Nay, not so,"

Replied the angel. Abou spoke more low,

But cheerly still; and said, "I pray thee, then,

Write me as one that loves his fellow men."

The angel wrote, and vanished. The next night

It came again with a great wakening light,

And showed the names whom love of God had blest,

And lo! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest.

Serving humanity is one of the greatest things that one can do, it gives meaning to one’s life.  An unselfish act not desiring fame or fortune or recognition.

It takes one person to start a ripple in a clear pond.  The ripple will spread and spread, becoming bigger and bigger.  Or if one rolls a pebble down a hill as it rolls it becomes bigger and bigger gathering moss impacting on more and more as it passes them.  Or one crack in the ice to start an avalanche. We can be of the first ripples or the of first pebbles.  There are many first ripples all trying to be of service.

It should be written in the annuals of history for our offspring to read, that there was a group of people who cared about their fellow man and were prepared to sacrifice a little bit.  They stood up when humanity needed them the most.  They were prepared to put their shoulder to the wheel.  Let us be of those people who care about others.  This is a unique opportunity to be of service to humanity.

Is it not possible that we could feed one hundred thousand people or even a million per day. The number may sound impossible, but it always starts with one. Who would have thought that after 4 weeks, daily we are feeding almost ten thousand people?   We started at one.  Who would have thought that it is possible to do this in such a short period of time?  It only started with the first ripple in the water, the first crack.  The we include you my fellow donors.

We are only the facilitators.  The actual workers who deserve the recognition and accolades are the tireless workers in the forefront, the cooks, and their helpers.  They are the ones who through their love of their communities make unbelievable personal sacrifices.  They get up early each morning preparing the food, cooking the whole day and then serving and having to clean up.  Then at night they collapse into a deep sleep.  How do we as a human race even start to thank them?

It has been a very humble program, people are happy and very thankful for the cooking.

We are experiencing more children coming for food as well as older people.

The food is very good and nice, they like the food and are happy.

Children being fed most are from the homes who have nothing at home to be fed.

The community is happy with the kitchen.

We are feeding people every day and we are experiencing more children and we have asked for more volunteers to assist us with cooking, cleaning, feeding, giving love to children.
