Somali Refugees in Mexico need our help!!

Abdikadir Omar and Gulled Abdi Omar are two Somali refugees in Mexico waiting for a chance to start a new life. Fleeing violence and danger in Somalia, they are part of a group of twelve Somali men who have made the dangerous journey from West Africa to South and Central America, travelling for months, through an ocean, jungles and up to nine different countries to reach Mexico where they are now stranded. Their goal is to come to Canada to claim refugee status, however they cannot enter the US and their visitors visas in Mexico will soon ran out. They can no longer stay in the local shelters (which are all at capacity) and have been sleeping in garages.

These men have proven their resilience, strength and determination and need our help to continue their journey towards Canada.

Where will the funds go? A group of us have made contact with these men, through the CBC news reporter who broke the story, and are raising funds to provide them with food and shelter over the next few months, while they determine a plan forward with their precarious situation in Mexico.
