Many of us take our blessings for granted; yet the war in Yemen demonstrated how everything can be taken away without any warning.  The people have lost peace, homes, jobs, and even their ability to provide a meal a day for their families and loved ones. 

The Quran recounts multiple times the reward for those who feed the hungry.

"أَوْ إِطْعَـٰمٌۭ فِى يَوْمٍۢ ذِى مَسْغَبَةٍۢ ١٤ يَتِيمًۭا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ ١٥ أَوْ مِسْكِينًۭا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍۢ ١٦ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلْمَرْحَمَةِ ١٧ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ ١٨"

“Or feeding, on a day of severe hunger, an orphaned relative, or a needy person in distress. And to be one of those who have faith and urge each other to perseverance and urge each other to compassion. These are the people of the right.” (Qur’an 90:14-18)

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was known to have said: “An individual should not eat until they feed someone who is hungry.”

Al-Matammah and Al-Motoon Districts – Al-Jawf Governorate

Al-Matammah and Al-Matoon are districts in Al-Jawf Governorate that house over 100,000 people. The local people continue to bear the brunt of the ongoing conflict. 

Families struggle to make their ends meet. Their living condition has dramatically deteriorated at the household level, leaving them vulnerable to preventable diseases. Children experience a very high rate of malnutrition. 

Moreover, hundreds of displaced families have taken shelters in both districts.  Their living condition at the random IDP settlements is even far worse than that of the host communities. 

YRRF provided 200 families (600 people) with food baskets targeting the most vulnerable families.

YRRF was established with Launch Good donors to provide relief to those in need in Yemen.  We are a voluntary organization and 100% of your donation go directly to support those in need.  Your donation goes a long way.  This few days of the Holy month of Ramadan, we were able to provide food baskets to needy families and provide funds to over 400 orphans. 

On the 4th day of the holy month of Ramadan, our generous donors allowed us to reach 100 families in Mount Sabri and 100 families in Rimah with food baskets. 1200 people will have food that sustains them for one month. Both places are mountains and hard to reach. We are indebted to our volunteers in Yemen who make sure that those inaccessible and hard to reach areas are not forgotten. During the first 5 days of Ramadan, we have reached 650 needy families with 3900 members (Photos attached).

As Ramadan is entering the last 10 days and as we approach Laylat Al-Qadr, I am writing to ask that you consider supporting families in need in Yemen.  In these blessed days, feeding the hungry is one of the activities that brings us closer to the Allah.  The Quran, through many verses, encourages us to give to those less fortunate and feed the hungry.  Surah Baqarah, 2:215 States:

يَسْأَلُونَكَ مَاذَا يُنفِقُونَ قُلْ مَا أَنفَقْتُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍ فَلِلْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالأَقْرَبِينَ وَالْيَتَامَى وَالْمَسَاكِينِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيلِ وَمَا تَفْعَلُواْ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَإِنَّ اللّهَ بِهِ عَلِيمٌ

215. They will ask thee as to what they should spend on others. Say: “Whatever of your wealth you spend, shall (first) be for your parents, and for the near of kin, and the orphans, and the needy, and the wayfarer; and whatever good you do, verily, God has full knowledge thereof.”

There are at least 14 millions in Yemen who are the verge of famine.  You contribution will save lives.

Ramadan Mubarak.  We are delighted to share with you that we started out first Ramadan distribution today, Friday, May 3rd in Sana'a with 100 food baskets, feeding at least 600 people for the Holy month of Ramadan.  Families of children with special needs were the recipients of these food baskets. 

This year, we decided to start early so that people can start Ramadan knowing that they have food.  We will continue our distribution throughout Ramadan and during Eid.  I am attaching a few pictures from today's distribution.

We are delighted to share with you that we have reached about 110,000 people in Yemen with food rations that sustain them for one month in 2018.  All the funds donated were used to provide much needed food, school bags and supplies and warm clothing to the most in need.  Our volunteers at Yemen Relief and Reconstruction Foundation, reached the most inaccessible areas of Yemen.  Our teams traveled up to 16 hours to reach the most difficult places where no one else had provided aid. 

We are happy to share the most recent photos of food baskets distributed to 300 families in Aslim, Hajjah, whose children are hospitalized for severe malnutrition.  This area border Saudi Arabia and is not accessible to most aid agencies.  However, because we work with Yemeni volunteers, we were able to be there and act in your behalf in delivering aid. 

Between Thanksgiving and Today, we distributed food baskets to 1400 families and provided internally displaced children with school bags and supplies and provided shelter for the space they are using to attain their education, picture attached.  I was informed that the children and the community were very happy.

On Behalf of the people who received relief services, we wish to extend our gratitude for your support and wish you, your families and loved ones a happy and prosperous New Year.

We are delighted to inform you that your generosity has saved 1000 families in Yemen!  Our volunteers have been in some of the most accessible places providing live savings food to the most needy.  We have identified families who have children suffering from severe malnutrition and provided them with food baskets.  

We reached people in Aden, Taiz, Al-Mahweet, Dhamar, Al-Hodediah, Hajja, Al-Byadha, and AlJawaf.  Thank you very much for your donations.  May you be rewarded by God with peace and prosperity.

We are happy to share that 300 more families received food baskets from your donations.  These are in Mahweet and Hajjah.  Aslam, was in the news because people were eating tree leaves to survive.  Our volunteers drove more than 16 hours to reach the mountainous villages.  Thank you for making this possible.

today, some heart breaking news came out of Yemen as the article below indicates.  We are distributing 600 food baskets with your donations this week in Al-Hudaydah, Al-Jawf, Al-mAhweet, Islim in A=Hajjah, where people were forced to eat tree leaves to survive, amd Taiz.  We will send pictures and videos as we get them.  Please continue to help us by donating and sharing our campaign.  Your donations are SAVING LIVES.  Thank you.
