Salaam alikum and Khawatum Mubarakah,

As Ramadan is entering the last 10 days and as we approach Laylat Al-Qadr, I am writing to ask that you consider supporting families in need in Yemen.  In these blessed days, feeding the hungry is one of the activities that brings us closer to the Allah.  The Quran, through many verses, encourages us to give to those less fortunate and feed the hungry.  Surah Baqarah, 2:215 States:

يَسْأَلُونَكَ مَاذَا يُنفِقُونَ قُلْ مَا أَنفَقْتُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍ فَلِلْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالأَقْرَبِينَ وَالْيَتَامَى وَالْمَسَاكِينِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيلِ وَمَا تَفْعَلُواْ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَإِنَّ اللّهَ بِهِ عَلِيمٌ

215. They will ask thee as to what they should spend on others. Say: “Whatever of your wealth you spend, shall (first) be for your parents, and for the near of kin, and the orphans, and the needy, and the wayfarer; and whatever good you do, verily, God has full knowledge thereof.”

There are at least 14 millions in Yemen who are the verge of famine.  You contribution will save lives.

Ramadan Mubarak.  We are delighted to share with you that we started out first Ramadan distribution today, Friday, May 3rd in Sana'a with 100 food baskets, feeding at least 600 people for the Holy month of Ramadan.  Families of children with special needs were the recipients of these food baskets. 

This year, we decided to start early so that people can start Ramadan knowing that they have food.  We will continue our distribution throughout Ramadan and during Eid.  I am attaching a few pictures from today's distribution.

We also want to share with you other good news from Yemen Relief and Reconstruction Foundation, https://yemenfoundation.org/ that your generosity helped us establish.

We are delighted to share with you that we have reached about 110,000 people in Yemen with food rations that sustain them for one month in 2018.  All the funds donated were used to provide much needed food, school bags and supplies and warm clothing to the most in need.  Our volunteers at Yemen Relief and Reconstruction Foundation, reached the most inaccessible areas of Yemen.  Our teams traveled up to 16 hours to reach the most difficult places where no one else had provided aid. 

I am happy to share the most recent photos of food baskets distributed to 300 families in Aslim, Hajjah, whose children are hospitalized for severe malnutrition.  This area borders Saudi Arabia and is not accessible to most aid agencies.  However, because we work with Yemeni volunteers, we were able to be there and act in your behalf in delivering aid. 

Between Thanksgiving and Today, we distributed food baskets to 1400 families and provided internally displaced children with school bags and supplies and provided shelter for the space they are using to attain their education, picture attached.  I was informed that the children and the community were very happy.

On Behalf of the people who received relief services, we wish to extend our gratitude for your support and wish you, your families and loved ones a happy and prosperous New Year.

We have been blessed with people like you who make it possible to provide food baskets to families who are in need.  We have provided 200 baskets to the most vulnerable populations, including poor families of children with cancer who come to the two cancer centers in Sana'a.
