This campaign will collect all funds raised by January 17, 2018 at 4:45 AM EDT

We're raising funds in memory of Moustafa Ahmed for the Egypt Cancer Network, a non-profit which provides resources to Egyptian hospitals focused on cancer.

In memory of our friend ...

In honor of our dear friend, Moustafa Ahmed, a member of the Al-Ghazaly High School Class of '14, we are raising funds for the Egypt Cancer Network, a non-profit which provides resources to Egyptian hospitals focused on cancer treatment. The money raised through this campaign will be used to purchase cancer treatment equipment to help patients at Cairo's 57357 Hospital.

Moustafa we will always miss you ...

Moustafa, Allah Yerhamo (may God have mercy on his soul), died in a tragic car accident in the early morning hours of December 16, 2017. Moustafa was studying at Rutgers University to earn his bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering. He was a Jersey City native and a beloved friend, son, and brother. Moustafa was always a kind, gentle, and playful person. He was also known to be particularly proud of his Egyptian heritage, so we, his former classmates, have decided to organize a fundraising campaign that he would have truly appreciated.

Who will benefit from this gift in Moustafa's name

The funds we raise will be donated to the Egyptian Cancer Network, a certified 501c3 non-profit. The funds raised will be allocated to different cancer treatment equipment at the 57357 Hospital in Egypt. Additionally, the hospital will place a plaque with Moustafa's name in the rooms in which equipment has been purchased using the funds we've raised (for example, if the money we raise is allocated to chemotherapy equipment, there will be a plaque with his name placed in the chemotherapy room). In many cases, Egyptian cancer patients have no choice but to travel to different countries to get quality treatment. Helping bring better cancer treatment to Egypt is something we think Moustafa would have been very proud.

Continuous Charity for our dear Moustafa

This fundraising campaign can be considered a Sadaqa Jariya (continuing charity) in Moustafa's name. The equipment bought using the funds we raise will be used to treat cancer patients at the 57357 Hospital for years to come. If you can donate anything at all, even as little as 50 cents, we and Moustafa's family would be appreciative beyond words. Please share the link to this fundraising campaign via Facebook, Twitter, email, or any other platform you would like.

Thank you all for the support thus far

    Salaam everyone,

We wanted to thank everyone who has graciously supported the campaign thus far. We've now raised over $7,000 and are under $3,000 short of our goal. Please continue to share the link to the campaign (launchgood.com/Moustafa) via social media, email, etc. and encourage your friends to donate. We also wanted to share this post written by Moustafa's sister, Yasmine, below. Again, thank you all for the support and please continue to spread awareness of this remarkable cause.

    Yasmine's post:

Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. To God we belong, and to him we shall return.
Moustafa is my twin brother, we had just turned 21 this December.... he had everything going well for him... good job, good school, great friends and family that loves and supports him. Death is unavoidable. It is the one thing that we can be certain about in this dunya (life). We are born to die. Every soul shall have a taste of death no matter who they are. No one knows where, how and when he or she will die. Moustafa certainly didn’t know that he will pass this soon and in this way.... neither did my family and I. But please don’t feel sad or bad for Moustafa because he is lucky... he had passed as a shaheed (martyr) inshaAllah. Allah (swt) loves Moustafa very much he wanted him back very soon and wanted him back in the best way possible... as a shaheed. It would be the ultimate honor and blessing to die as a shaheed like how Moustafa did, but I (we) should just settle for dying while Allah is pleased me (us) InshaAllah. Yes the passing of Moustafa happened so unexpectedly... but this is a test for me, my family and our friends from Allah (swt) to have sabr (patience). Moustafa is a giver. He has always put others needs before his own. He never really asked for any assistance. But this time I (we) need to help him out in this dunya for him to get as much hassanat (good deeds) and duaa (prayer) as possible.
To honor Moustafa, his friends had set up a sadiqa jariya ( continuing charity) for him. Sadiqa jariyah is charity that continues to benefit people long term and continues to earn the giver rewards even after death. The money raised through this campaign will be used to purchase cancer treatment equipment to help patients at Cairo's hospital 57357 in Egypt. Please donate any amount you can for Moustafa. It would mean beyond words for me. Thank you.
