Rabi Al-Awwal is the month in which the Prophet (pbuh), the beloved, was born. One of the ways that we can honour the legacy of the Prophet (pbuh) is by remembering that he himself was an orphan, and encouraged us to take care of orphans. Over a dozen Quranic verses were revealed regarding the good treatment of orphans – and some of these verses came down even before the prayer itself had been made obligatory!
It was the Prophet (pbuh) himself who intertwined his two fingers and said: “The one who cares for an orphan will be together in Paradise with me, like this,”.
READ Foundation has been at the forefront of taking care of orphans, but we at READ pride ourselves in doing more than just feeding and maintaining the livelihood of an orphan. At READ, we understand that what orphans need isn’t just maintenance, but a full education that has the potential to permanently change their lives for the better.
By sponsoring orphans today, you are giving them a brighter future tomorrow. Your sponsorship will supply them with everything they need to get an education – an education which will help them break free from the shackles of poverty.
The Prophet (pbuh), while himself unlettered, emphasised the importance of gaining an education: “A father can give his son nothing better than a good education.” These children don’t have their father there to help them get an education, but YOU can be that person for them.

Your money will sponsor an orphan child living in poverty. It will give them the chance to get an education they simply couldn’t afford without your help.
The sponsorship will provide:
School fees, books, notebooks, stationery, uniform, school bag, shoes, food, and other living costs.
In return for your generosity, your orphan child will send you drawings and a letter as a sign of their appreciation – you are giving them the amazing gift of education and this is their way of saying ‘thank you’.
We will also update you on their progress with a school report – painting a picture of their favourite subjects, their hobbies, how well they’re doing at school. This report will give you a general overview of their educational development.
We started off in humble beginnings of just £200 (approximately $256), one teacher, 25 children and a desire to change the face of poverty forever, built on the belief that ‘education works’. Much like our students, we’ve now moved on to bigger and better things. Today we have enough school places for 103,790 children in more than 380 schools.
