You can now watch Qalb (short film) and my other works at Hasnain-Ali.com. We are still striving to bring this featured to life and are a few months away from beginning production. We still need to raise some more funds before moving forward.

UPDATE*

I have recently made a short version of Qalb for the HBO visionary competition believing this would be a great opportunity for my team and I to test the story and logistics for the featured film. We have successfully finished and submitted to HBO along with other festivals which we will hear back early 2018. We have some amazing actors to help bring the short story alive. Below is the digital poster for the outcome. We also have an IMDB page for it.

Featured Film Project!

A Muslim raised, bookish Pakistani-American college guy vs. a Catholic raised, free-spirited college girl. Complicated? Absolutely. The film follows two characters, Amir and Sophia who just like everyone else, struggle to balance their lives with their faith. The film targets and clarifies the misconceptions of Islam in today's world, and highlights the similarities between Islam and Christianity through a beautiful, inspiring and educational love story.

The Story

Amir and Sophia, total opposites are assigned partners in a religious studies class. Amir takes the class for an easy grade, while Sophia is inspired by her previous trip to Spain. Connected through class and eventually a mutual understanding of the 13^th- century poet Rumi, they are both drawn to each other instantly. As Sophia ponders in some of the misconceptions of Islam and Muslims in the world, Amir seeks to educate Sophia on Islam as well as Christianity and highlighting the similarities between the faiths. In return Sophia tests Amir, helping him tap into emotions through poetry. What seems like an innocent friendship soon blossoms, however in a world where Islamophobia is prevalent, Amir is left with a difficult choice. Choose love or faith?

The Details

The team and I want to bring you the best cinematic experience with this film. Funding this film will go towards:

-Equipment (Camera rental, light and sound equipment)

-Actor's Compensation

-Cinematographer & Crew (The camera guy, Gaffer, Etc.)

-New York City film permits (Expensive city)

-Location! Location! Location! (unless someone can get us access to location for savings!)

-Contingency/food/Transportation (We need to be prepared for any obstacle that comes our way. Also we need to eat and provide transportation for cast and crew)

-Post Production (Possibly the most expensive part)

-Distribution (Will be submitting to every single festival possible. This film needs to be seen by everyone across the globe. Will even attempt to get this in theater)

Our time frame to shoot is in August 2018 through October 2018. We would like to finalize the film before the end of 2018.
