SEEKING PEARLS 


"He who seeks pearls, immerses himself in the sea" - Ash-Shafi'i

One of my commitments this year was to drag myself out from behind the computer and attend more Islamic learning events in-person. I have repeatedly heard wonderful things about the Pearls of the Qur'an conference and I would love to attend this year. In order to help cover the costs of the conference and travel, I am selling special limited-edition #pearlsforpearls digital prints and journals featuring the quote by Imam Ash-Shafi'i. 



The quote was changed slightly to make it a bit more gender neutral, and I hand lettered it (meaning I drew everything by hand rather than using pre-made computer fonts). I'm working with a professional graphic designer to make sure the image is crisp and ready for production (the image may change slightly but the concept will stay the same). 




Using a custom metal stamp the handlettered quote will be permanently debossed on the the journal cover using heat and pressure resulting in an elegant look. 

The 5 3/4 x 8 1/4 journals feature a soft faux-leather cover, 80 lined pages, a accordion style pocket on the inside of the back cover, and a coordination bookmarking ribbon and elastic closure. You can choose from tan, navy or black for your journal. 

In order to create a custom-order with a full-cover stamp a minimum  of 100 pieces are required.

It is related in at-Tirmidhi that the Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam said: "Acquire the knowledge and impart it to the people." (Hadith 107)


While I'm not a scholar, or teacher of Islam I do try to follow this hadith by sharing the notes that I take when I learn. The note taking style that I like best, sketchnotes, combines words and pictures in order to aid memory and understanding. 


Bi idnillah I plan on also sharing the notes that I take from attending Pearls of the Qur'an 2015. So through your purchase, you not only get a useful product, but you will contribute to the dissemination of knowledge. 




The picture above is an example of sketchotes that I took listening to audio from a lecture from Pearls of the Qur'an 2013, available on Al-Madina Institute's website.  As a part of this campaign I will release new notes every three days, in sha Allah.

Where is the money going?

The majority of the funds collected will go toward the manufacturing costs, as well as to cover the Launchgood platform fees, and necessary credit card processing fees. The remainder of the money will go toward the cost of a ticket for myself, as well as for my travel companion and the associated costs for us to travel from New Jersey to Virginia (~3 hr car trip).

Campaign Extended/5 Drive

As-salaamu alaikum all, 


Alhamdullilah through your support so far $1,171 has been raised which is 47% of the overall goal. The campaign was scheduled to end this AM at 12:45 EST but Launchgood extended the funding period for an extra day.  That means there are still 13 more hours to go.

I've been trying to get the word out but for these last few hours I want to enlist your help with a targeted "Gimme 5" drive. There must be a reason why you contributed to this campaign, whether it be that you thought the artwork was great, the cause was great, or you know me personally. Whatever the cause is that made YOU believe that this was a worthy project, pick 5 of your friends and communicate that to them, share the campaign and tell them why you chose to support it.

Pearls for Pearls Could Use Your Help!

First I want to thank each of you for pledging to support the #PearlsforPearls Launchgood campaign so far! This is an all-or-nothing campaign, meaning that if I don't pre-sell a minimum of 100 notebooks, they can't get made. We have only 3 days left to hit that goal. I'm sure it can be met, but I'll need help to get the word out. 

Please share the campaign with family and friends, on your social media pages, etc. Let people know why you chose to support the campaign and why they should too!

Pick Your Color

As-salaamu alaikum, 

First off, thank you so much for supporting the #PearlsforPearls campaign. I noticed that many people who ordered journals did not indicate which color they wanted. The color choices are Navy, Tan, and Black. Navy is the default color if you don't indicate otherwise. You should be able to log back into Launchgood and update your pledge if you prefer another color. 

Alhamdullilah everyone that has pledged to this point are people that I know personally, and I'm super grateful. This is an all-or-nothing campaign and I have to order 100 journals in order to get them custom printed. Please take just a minute to share this project with your networks to help spread the word, and make sure you get the journals that you ordered.
