Our Masjid & Islamic School Were Flooded. Help Us Rebuild Before School Starts!

Flooded by torrential rains, the Al Huda School musalla and some classrooms are in dire need of repair. Dar us Salaam is reaching out to the Muslim community to help make sure that with Allah’s help all of our children can start the new school year in classrooms that are safe and ready for teaching. The building crew has been working day and night but the school will need additional financial help. We’ve already had to delay school by two weeks.

With the grace of Allah, Al-Huda School is an accredited school that is recognized both nationally and internationally as being one of the top Islamic schools in the nation.  Dar us Salaam opened its full-time hifzh school in 1999. More than 80 huffaz, boys and girls, have completed their Hifzh journey at the Dar-us-Salaam Hifzh School!  We also have a pre-school and day care on site.  All of these institutions have been affected by the rain damage

The school was looking forward to a new school year with a new roof after repairs. But heavy rains in the area and a leaky roof that was under repairs created a recipe for disaster.

Imagine walking in to see your beloved classrooms stripped to the bone, soaked and in need of repair.

Four classrooms, the girls hifzh classroom and bookstore have been damaged by the rain forcing the delay of the school's opening and forcing the community to pray in our martial arts dojo in the basement.

Opportunities for Sadaqah :

It will take $100,000 to restore the damage caused by the flooding. It will take $20,000 to buy new furniture and books, bookstore merchandise, and another $10,000 is needed for clean up costs.

We are hoping the greater ummah, the supporters of education, and those who wish to strive for Jannah these blessed days of Thul-Hijjah will help us raise $130,000.

And the example of those who spend their wealth seeking means to the approval of Allah and assuring [reward for] themselves is like a garden on high ground which is hit by a downpour - so it yields its fruits in double. And [even] if it is not hit by a downpour, then a drizzle [is sufficient]. And Allah, of what you do, is Seeing. 2:265

Look at the extent of the damage:

• Musallah & multipurpose hall: vinyl floor tiles, carpets, walls (drywall), lights

• Classrooms 1&2: Ceiling, floor tiles and wood floor below the tiles, student desk/chairs

• Classrooms 3&4: lights, walls (drywall), teacher and student desks,

• Girls Hifzh classroom: carpet and chairs, ceiling and lights

• School bookstore : store merchandise, bookshelves, textbooks

• Hallway: ceiling tiles and drywall above ceiling tiles

A parent captures our feelings about our children’s second home

It's a second home for my girls where I feel they are well cared of and get the knowledge of both deen and dunya. It's their Alma Mater. They are MashaAllah blessed to study in this country in a school where they start their day with dhikr and Quran, where they do jamaa for salah where I feel they are protected by Malaika!

I want them to come back to their home which means a lot to them and us!

I have dropped Yusra multiple times during the past few weeks at school but I didn't have the heart to go inside and see their school, their home damaged! In sha Allah may Allah give strength and waseela to the administration and may Allah bring immense khair out of this ordeal for the school, Ameen

Don’t Wait!! Help Now! We hope to complete renovations by Sept 4th, so that School won't have to be delayed anymore, In shaa Allah.
