What is our action plan?

Through Penny Appeal USA OrphanKind program, we hope to assist in building a sustainable community for our Orphans in Gambia. Children in Gambia wake up many days feeling weak, hungry, thirsty and often times not sure when their next meal will come. Because of the impoverishment of many Gambian families, a growing number of children end up without parental care, fending for themselves. Frequently occurring natural disasters worsen the living situation of the poorest population segments in this small African country. 

Gambia has a very young population: around 40 per cent of Gambians are less than 14 years of age. Around one fourth of Gambian young people engage in child labour activities because of the economic situation of their families.

With Penny Appeal USA OrphanKind program, we will take part in alleviating the hardships orphans in Gambia face, by building solar powered villages and sustainable communities. Furthermore, we will take part in establishing a foundation that will cultivate our families emotionally, psychologically, and physically. 

It is with your help that we can make this project a reality, for those who most need our help today.

Each of the homes in our OrphanKind village houses 10 orphan children and together with a trained foster mother, they form a family. The community is designed to provide for the complete nurturing of each child through education, access to quality healthcare, and the love of a foster mother to tend to their emotional and psychological needs.

Orphaned children deserve the best in life.

For this reason Penny Appeal USA has established a structural framework that will help build communities that will last a life time. 

In this blessed month of Ramadan...

It is the time for us to take part in a change that will revolutionize the lives of many orphans. These last 10 days are perfectly in line with this momentous task. We are in the month of generosity and giving; and this is the perfect chance to give.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I and the person who looks after an orphan and provides for him, will be in Paradise like this," putting his index and middle fingers together (Bukhari 6005). 

Every child deserves a happy, healthy childhood and the opportunity to build a brighter future. For many of the 140 million orphans worldwide, this is simply out of reach and they are trapped in poverty. Your donations will help provide building a livelihood for our orphans. There is nothing more touching in this world than putting a smile on a kids face.
