BROTHER OMARI GREY, FATHER OF NINE, WAS IN A VICIOUS HEAD-ON ACCIDENT WITH A TRACTOR TRAILER TRUCK
Many of you in the DC, MD, and VA area may know our brother, teacher, coach, and friend, Omari Grey. He left DC on June 17th and 15 minutes before returning to his homestead in Orange, VA he was in a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer on a two-lane road. 
Brother Omari was found down for an uncertain period of time before being put on life support (intubated) at the scene. He was originally at Mary Washington hospital but injuries were so extensive that they moved him via helicopter to VCU.
He suffered extensive trauma including fractures of the skull, ribs, hips, and leg, Punctured lung, small bleed into the brain. Imaging of the brain shows diffuse hypoxic injury.
Alhamdulillah ( All Thanks to our Lord) in all things and we show sabr (Patience) in all times. Please keep the husband of Sister Sakinah and this father of 9 beautiful children in your prayers. His family will need all the encouragement and support, please contribute as the family really needs your support in his time of need.
May Allah (SWT) heal him and restore his health swiftly and completely and keep him in His protection! May Allah swt give him a speedy FULL recovery and give his family strength and patience through these hard times. I encourage everyone to make special dua(prayer) for this father of nine who was a regular at the masjid.
For those who don't know Omari, he was a man who always put the community first. On any given day, you’ll find him teaching calculus; coaching youth basketball; helping the community with fitness training, or serving at-risk youth, and co-parenting his nine children.
He is always donating his time to help provide many activities to the youth and young adults. If he wasn't teaching students math at Woodrow Wilson High School, he was coaching community members with his Body's Rights Wellness Program.
He also started Fitrah Farms, a program providing naturally raised and organic chicken farm delivering fresh halal chickens to DC and Richmond.
He was featured on the cover of Men's Health for his Body’s Rights Wellness Program and showed the world how his faith helped him in life.
Please keep him in your prayers and help give what you can to help for medical expenses, lost pay, and family support since he was the sole income provider in the family.
The neurologist, trauma team, and ICU team state that his condition remains critical. He is not conscious and in no pain or discomfort. We will keep you updated as we hear from the doctors.
But we need to always remember that our soul in Allah's hand, we ask that Allah remove the injuries from Omari and cures him, you are the one who cures and there is no one besides you who can cure. Please grant such a cure that no injury remains, Please revive him so he may see his children and wife once again. - Ameen

A Status on Omari
AsSalaamAelykum All. Update on our dear Br. Omari from Sr. Sakina. JazakhumAllah for your concerns, love, and duas for Omari. The united love of this ummah is uplifting to my heart and I am grateful to Allah SWT for each of your duas. This past month I have watched blessing after blessing descends upon Omari and he keeps defying the odds and Alhamdulillah is now out of the coma. He hears me and confirms by following simple commands I ask him. He is unable to talk yet because of the tracheostomy. The nurses sit him up in a chair and he seems eager to move on to the next step. There is a long way to recovery but alhamdulillah Allah SWT has shown me such generosity and filled me with such hope. Please continue your duas. I feel such love for all of you and the power of your collected duas. - Sajjad Ahmad

AsSalaamAleykum All - An update from Omari's wife. God is the knower of all things and we do not know His plans but are hoping for the best outcome. As it stands right now Omari's condition largely remains the same. The family is grateful for all the sincere dua’s/prayers that they are receiving and the HOPE and COMFORT these prayers are providing for them. The family firmly believes that it is the prayers of the many that are keeping Omari fighting. As we know, God in His infinite wisdom will accept the prayer of any kind/sincere soul. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “there are among the servants of God those who, if they were to adjure in the name of God (i.e. asking God in prayer about anything) God would fulfill their request.'” Omari's case has gotten support globally at this point and the family is relying on the acceptance of the prayers of that 1 kind/sincere soul. So, she asks everyone to please continue to recite Quran/Yasin and make a prayer for Omari and His family so that he continues to fight and Insha’Allah heal. – Sajjad Ahmad

Omari continues to be on life support and we continue to pray for his healing, but overall there has been no change in his condition. AsSalaamAleykum All. An update on Br. Omari. This update comes from Sister Sakina as per our most recent conversation with her a few minutes ago. We state that, because we know there are a lot of inaccurate messages being circulated. Br. Omari was taken off of life support last night and the initial prognosis to the family was that he will pass w/in minutes. SubhanAllah, Allah is Al-Latif and Omari is a fighter and he is still (after almost 9 hours) fighting for his life and showing signs of strength. We ask everyone to continue to sincerely pray for him and for his HEALING inshaAllah.
