The Children Need Our Support

In a world full of upheaval, children are the most vulnerable community members — vulnerable to hunger, illness, deprivation and most unfortunately, exploitation. Children are disproportionately affected by many illnesses, and in some countries, as many as 1 in 8 children die before their 5th birthday. 

The Affects of Poverty, Deprivation, and Hunger

For many children living in communities suffering deprivation, school is often a luxury — a situation that perpetuates the cycle of poverty.

Yemen — one of the oldest inhabited areas on Earth — is also one of the poorest and least developed countries in the Arab world. According to the World Food Program, an estimated 14.4 million people in Yemen are food insecure: the country imports a whopping 90% of its food! Of those people, 7.6 million are considered severely malnourished, placing even more importance on external humanitarian food aid resources. 

The country’s child malnutrition rates are among the highest in the world: around half of all Yemeni children under five years old are stunted.

Islamic Relief and Muslim Officers Society (MOS) 

For nearly 25 year, Islamic Relief USA has been working to improve the lives of children around the world. Areas of focus include emergency relief, orphan support, health and nutrition, water and sanitation. The Muslim Officers Society has teamed up with Islamic Relief to raise funds for the children of Yemen. It is our desire to make a small dent in the cycle of poverty for millions of children in Yemen.  Join us by donating generously and sharing this project with friends and family!

Islamic Relief USA is on the U.S. government’s Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) charity list, which means that federal employees can choose to contribute to the charity of their choice through automatic payroll deductions.

The CFC is the world’s largest workplace charity drive and raises millions of dollars every year to assist thousands of charities through donations from federal employees and service members. The CFC supports eligible nonprofit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world.
