Muslim Women's Alliance, a 501c3 nonprofit organization based in Chicago, is looking to scale our impact up to not only major cities across the country but also empower Muslim women & girls in small-town America. MWA has connected with several groups of women who are interested in replicating the work we do in their hometown. Your critical support will help to empower Muslim women and girls nationwide to power up their local Muslim communities.

Who is Muslim Women's Alliance (MWA)?

Muslim Women's Alliance is more than your average nonprofit organization. For over a decade, MWA has looked to see where the gaps for women are in our society and provided the tools and resources Muslim women and girls need to be at the forefront of the Muslim community. 

MWA Core Focus Areas:

Over the years we have elevated  hundreds of diverse women leaders, given a platform to female scholars, activists, teachers and youth leaders, women with special needs, refugees, mentored women and girls from all socioeconomic walks of life, provided a haven for women seeking financial independence, navigating divorce and domestic violence and advocated for inclusivity in the Muslim community.

Now is the time to support and invest in Muslim women leaders and programming that nurtures the growth of youth, college-age and adult women in our communities. Our goal is to strengthen our bonds locally and design a replicable model to implement MWA chapters nationally. 

We Serve the Community

MWA fosters community service across Chicago's diverse communities. For the past 13 years, Muslim Women's Alliance has provided service opportunities for volunteers to give back to those in need. MWA's community service projects have become a staple for families to come together in Ramadan and during the year as a way to put their faith in action. For example,  hundreds of MWA volunteers assembled  and distributed essential food and supplies for 550 local Muslim families in needs for the entire month of Ramadan. 

We Mentor High School & College Students

MWA Mentorship initiative has 3 mentoring programs, one focusing on high school girls (9-12), second is a community-based program providing resources and tools to underserved girls and women and the  Emerging Leaders program supporting college undergraduate students and young professional women. 

We Empower for Social Justice

MWA is spearheading the movement to bring gender equity back in to mosques in accordance with the Prophetic tradition. MWA developed a 4 step strategy to implement at local masajid to ensure women have access to pray in the main prayer area, elevating women into leadership positions, and amplifying Muslim women speakers in masjid programming and propelling their voices to create more gender panels and actively working with other national/local orgs on their speaker lineups
