Almost every single one of us knows of someone or has some affiliation with a person who has a Disability - either Physical, Intellectual, Emotional or Neurological. Could it be you? A Family member? A Community Member? What are you doing to help them? These are "People of Jannah" living among us who we need to serve.

Muslims Understanding & Helping Special Education Needs
The MUHSEN organization will strive to lead in creating a better understanding of Disabilities in our communities nationwide and building a better future for these “Special” People of Jannah, in shaa Allah where they are welcomed and all their needs are addressed as they are accepted by all.  In our communities today, many individuals with Disabilities do not have access to Masjid programs, do not feel welcome and are not catered to in order to access their deen and fellow community members. Where is our compassion and understanding of our obligation as Muslims to help and support them?  

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “The Muslim is the brother of his fellow Muslim; he does not wrong him or let him down. The one who meets the needs of his brother, Allah will meet his needs. Whoever relieves a Muslim of distress, Allah will relieve him of distress on the Day of Resurrection.”

Who We Are

MUHSEN is a non - profit umbrella organization serving the community nationwide, to establish a more inclusive “Special Friendly” environment for our Brothers & Sisters of all Disabilities.  Muhsen will advocate, educate, train, support and implement programs and services to improve access to Masajid for the individuals and their families as well as acceptance and inclusion by the community in all aspects of their daily lives.  As a newly launched venture, MUHSEN needs your financial support to create these programs to become the voice for our precious Brothers and Sisters. A Growing Concern

With staggering statistics and increasing numbers of Muslims affected by various Disabilities, we need to take a stand for these often overlooked people around us. Autism, Down's Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Vision Impairment, Hearing Impairment, ADD, OCD, Muscular Dystrophy and Parkinson's are just a few disorders that drastically impact so many lives. Whether brought on by old age, illness, or a Physical, Intellectual, Neurological or Emotional Disability, anyone, adults and children alike can face these tribulations and families everywhere are being tested and are in need of our help.


Our Initiative

Founded by Sh. Omar Suleiman and launched in September, 2014, MUHSEN is in its early developmental stages and funding is required to establish it further and expand its reach as a non profit organization to serve the communities' needs. In one year,  we have seen a large growing demand for services nationwide.  "This is a project of Ihsaan that every masjid should have."  MUHSEN has been legally registered and approved as a 501 c 3 non profit organization and is looking to grow in the years to come to serve your community needs.


Existing and future programs include: 
Peer Buddy Programs, Counseling & Support Groups, Closed Captioning, ASL Interpretation Services, Help Hotline, Service Provider Directory, Awareness and Education Forums, Family Respite Help, Event Accommodations, Residential Facility

Our programs were in place to support our attendees with Special Needs at the ISNA Convention for the first time this year to make it truly accessible for all.


Funding will be allocated towards:

* Expanded Community Programs & Services

* Professional Fees (Therapists, Teachers, Counselors, Interpreters)

* Program Development & Workshops 

* Advocacy & Accommodation in Masajid and at Events

* Awareness & Education (Children and Adults)

* Marketing & Administration

* Media & Public Relations
