Habibi Worldwide has teamed up with Natalie Najjar Design to launch a brand new sock design that draws on the traditional Palestinian tatreez (embroidery) pattern.

What’s new about these socks?

For those of you already familiar with Habibi Worldwide, let me get straight to the good stuff. 

When we launched in April, we received a bunch of requests for a more “formal” pattern to complement the bright, playful first four ones (black and red kuffiyehs, blue ceramic pottery, and olive leaves). 

We’ve partnered with a new Palestinian designer, Natalie Najjar, to proivde just that. This sock, with a vibrantly-colored Palestinian tatreez pattern on top of a navy blue background, is perfect for the office, a classy evening, or any special occasion.

What’s the story behind Habibi Worldwide?

Earlier in 2019, Habibi Worldwide launched its first line of Palestinian-designed socks, with three main goals: 

• To provide high quality, beautiful socks that evoke and honor the culture of Palestine and the Arab world 

• To use our proceeds to positive effects through the business and individuals we partner with, as well by supporting entrepreneurial growth in Palestine

• To build a sustainable business model on collaboration between those in the Arab diaspora and those living in the homeland. 

After nearly 6 months in operation, 600+ socks sold, and $2,000 reinvested back into the Palestinian economy, we’re exciting to launch a new pattern based on Palestinian tatreez.

How does my support of Habibi Worldwide help Palestinians?

When you slip these socks on your feet, be confident that they’ve had a positive impact in Palestine, and for Palestinians up and down our supply chain, all the way through to how we make use of our profits. You can learn more about what we’ve already done on our website.

Our profits will be reinvested into sourcing and promoting new designs. 10% of proceeds are also be allocated for donation to specific projects that support entrepreneurship in Palestine. We’re currently fundraising in support of Palestine Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is the world’s largest celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare. Each November, nearly 10 million people in over 170 countries participate in more than 35,000 activities, events, and competitions designed to connect them to potential collaborators, mentors, and even investors.

This is only the beginning and there is much potential for us to work together to shape the next generation of Palestine’s entrepreneurs.

2019 marks the seventh year that Palestine takes part in Global Entrepreneurship Week, and is especially important given the economic pressure that Palestinians face from the current American and Israeli governments.
