The most loving, caring & biggest smiling grandmother has passed away after fighting coronavirus for over 2.5 months.

Honoring My Grandmother Who Passed Away Due to Coronavirus After Fighting for 2.5 Months

My grandmother, Sajida Begum, has passed away after fighting coronavirus for 2.5 months. She was an annual visitor from Pakistan. She came to get a medical operation done in New York City to improve her health. Little did she know that she would get stuck in a country that is now the #1 country impacted in a global pandemic, with numbers increasing daily.

Our family would have never thought that we would lose someone that we love so much, so suddenly. My grandmother was the mother of 7 and the grandmother of 18. Losing her has felt like our whole world has shaken, as she was the only elder left in my family and was someone that loved her whole family on a daily basis. She thought of everyone and checked up on them. While she was suffering from coronavirus, she was also in grief as she lost her lifelong partner, my grandfather. My grandfather was paralyzed for 9 years after suffering from a brain hemorrhage and going into a coma. We can't begin to imagine how my grandmother felt in the hospital. Being alone, around people that don't speak her language, feeling the need to go back to her country, awaiting the arrival of her new grandchild.

My grandmother gave a very hard fight. Only my family and I know what we have gone through with the daily extreme stress of seeing her in a life and death situation for such a long duration. Not only that, we also lost my father who passed away due to coronavirus. Losing two loving individuals in such a short time span has been a lot for my family to process. You can read about my father's story here:  https://bklyner.com/shafiq-hussain-legacy-coronavirus/

Seeing the numbers go up and down on the ventilator, seeing her become at risk of needing medical procedures such as kidney dialysis, seeing her get a hole made in her throat for the medical procedure of a tracheostomy, has been a lot for my family to see. She tragically passed away after showing signs of improvement. My family and I had a lot of hope in her recovery. She was coronavirus negative when she passed away, she developed antibodies, she gave such a hard fight, but the damage coronavirus did to her body was irreparable. She was receiving such strong antibiotics but her body was unable to come out of a constant high fever going on for nearly two weeks.

We remember her as a fighter and as someone who loved to do good. My family would like to honor her by building a masjid for those in need because my grandmother was someone who found joy in giving to those in need and doing good deeds.

Building a Masjid for Those in Need

The organization I will be using to help build a masjid is Unite 4 Humanity. This is an organization that not many of New Yorkers are familiar with so let me introduce this organization to you. Unite 4 Humanity has a 100% donation policy in which all the funds raised will be going towards those in need. They are an official registered charity with Charity Commission UK. Their registered charity number is 1158152. You can read more about their work on their website, they are doing excellent work which is worth looking at: https://u4h.org.uk/

My family would like to create a masjid in Pakistan in honor of my grandmother. We would like to build a masjid in Pakistan because there are large communities in need of mosques. Since most of my family lives in Pakistan, they would like for this to be an ongoing project in sha Allah in which they can help support the maintenance of the masjid and keep it alive. It costs £5,000 to build a mosque and £1,000 to build a wudu area. So our goal is to raise £6,000 because we would also like to create a wudu area for the masjid.

Day of Arafah

Assalamu alaikum wrwb everyone!

I hope you are having a blessed Day of Arafah fast! There is still some time left to donate to help us build a mosque for those in need! Not only is it for those in need but it is also a means of providing relief for your brothers & sisters aching with a heavy loss and yearning to establish a means of sadiqah jaariyah.

We are ONLY $600 away from securing the funds needed to start the construction of the mosque! (Please note that this is subject to change as currency rates between UK pounds and US dollars change!) Let’s get the construction of this masjid started! Let’s get those in need excited! Let’s make them happy!

I ask am asking all of you to please keep me and my family in your duas! I am asking you to donate generously for the sake of Allah (swt)! May the bricks that you funded be a source of protection for you on the day of Qiyammah! We are SO CLOSE from our goal! Alhamdulillah!!

If we all contributed what we can! I know that with the help of Allah we can meet our goal before the Day of Arafah is complete! Please share widely! It takes a minute to share this link with your friends.

Thank you so much and may Allah (swt) multiply the reward of all of your donations! May He (swt) accept all of your duas! And may He (swt) make you successful in this life and the next!

Masjid Selected!

Assalamu alaikum wrwb my dear brothers and sisters,

Thank you so much for your continuous support! May Allah subhana wa ta’ala accept all of your generous donations! You guys opened your hearts and donated even before my family & I were able to find a charity organization we found was a reasonable goal to achieve!

Alhamdulillah, Allah (swt) helped us find an amazing organization that has a 100% donation policy. We are so excited to complete this goal during these blessed days of Dhul Hijjah where good deeds are even more beloved to Allah (subhana wa ta’ala).

Please take a look at our campaign again! There have been major updates! I was in shock what happened so I wasn’t able to write much. I have now shared my grandmother’s story & what she went through. Kindly share widely with all your friends and family! It would really help if you can message just 3-5 close & supportive family and friends to just share this campaign.

It’s been really hard without my grandma. Her daughters still cry daily. Having a masjid built in Pakistan would help them busy themselves in good. It would help them find a cause to be passionate about and maintain this masjid out of love for their mother.

There are so many masjids that have such high goals! $25k! $100k! $250k! But mashAllah the masjid we have selected needs less than $6k left!!!! I know that if we all shared this campaign widely and encouraged everyone to donate because Allah (swt) will give them even better, we can reach our goal!!

Please share widely and donate generously. Thank you so much for your beloved support. I ask Allah (swt) blesses you and your family with even more!! I also ask for you guys to consider this organization if you ever want to build a masjid in honor of your loved one! Because it is definitely an affordable price to raise funds for! Alhamdulillah!
