Lindi Islamic Foundation of Tanzania (LIFT) distributes meat to the most vulnerable residing within Lindi Region of Tanzania.

Thanks to donors like you, for 6 years Lindi Islamic Foundation of Tanzania (LIFT) has been providing meat to the most vulnerable in Lindi, Tanzania. 


Eid-ul-adha is a time when many of us can enjoy Eid with our family and friends with a menu unimpeded by economic or social condition.  

AlHamduAllah each year this program has been able to supply meat for Eid to those who normally go without.

Last year and throughout the year, LIFT distributed meat to the most vulnerable thanks to donors just like you.

Last Eid ul Adha, the LIFT team of 6 departed for the district of Nachingwea to seat the livestock.

The livestock was loaded on to the truck, a several hour tasks, and made the 400 km journey from Mohoro, in the Pwani Region, to Nachingwea. 

 



The truck departed around noon. We waited, and waited, and waited. We received updates along the way. AlhamduAllah around 2 am, we left our hotel to rendezvous with the truck and escort it to its final destination in preparation for the sacrifice. Around 4 AM, unloading of all 26 cows, 38  sheep/ goat was complete.

After about 2 hours sleep, we prepare for Eid prepare, the sacrifice, and distribution.

Meat Distribution and inspection

As salaam alaikum

AlhamduAllah all 20 cows have been sacrificed. Ten villages received between 1, 2, 3, or 4 cows. Meat not distributed until the doctor inspected. May Allah (swt) accept.

Delivery of Cows

What follows are pictures from last nights delivery.   Last cows delivered around 1:45 AM.  InShaAllah will communicate to you again about the sacrifice after  Eid Prayer local time.

We delivered later than  anticipated but the 10 villages we delivered to waited patiently.

Cows on the way to village

As salaam alaikum 

Eid Mubarak!!

Cows are in transit to the villages. 

The good news is the cows are larger than expected. The challenge was that we had to find another vehicle since they would be too congested to transport safely in the vehicle we hired. This delayed us a bit.

Eid prayer is Monday. These pictures taken part way through their 135 mile journey to the first drop off point.

Contract and Advance payment

A Brief Update:

Eid-ul-Adha in Tanzania will be Monday, August 12th inShaAllah. This year we expect to sacrifice 19 cows. The cows will be distributed among villages that are in close proximity of each other: MCHINGA I, MCHINGA 2, SANDA MKOBANI, RUVU, MNA’NGOLE, DIMBA, KILOLAMBWANI, MALOO, MVULENI, and KIJIWENI.  Their close proximity facilitates monitoring. A veterinarian will be will travel with the livestock to assure that the meat healthy.

We decided not to buy from the first location we inspected because we did not approve of the size of the cows. Even though the cows will be transported from a bit further, we returned to our reliable supplier from previous years. Today we signed contract and made advance payment.
