We're seeking support in purchasing bags filled with new books of Islamic basics that will be gifted to new Muslims (convert/reverts) and even born-Muslims looking to brush up on their knowledge.
New Muslim Circle started as a small group of new Muslims reading the Martin Lings biography about Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), but grew to providing regular and relevant peer support to our newest community members.
In Spring 2017, a couple of donors came through to help us produce 12 initial bags and that first run is pretty much gone. The demand is high and we don't want people to miss out.
Again, these bags will be given to new Muslims at the time of their shahadah or even those who took their shahadah years ago. They will also be given to born-muslims that are recommitting to Islam. And in some occasions these bags may be given to non-muslims who are presenting a sincere willingness to learn, but there will be no pressure from us to make them take shahadah.
Bags cost roughly $60 Canadian Dollars each to produce.
Brother Christopher Venus, is a born-son of the city of Calgary, who embraced Islam in 2009. On top of his obligations in married life and fatherhood, he has been volunteering his time with New Muslim Circle since Autumn 2013, with the help of other amazing community members in past (Ahmed, Anas and Erin). Chris takes his efforts and trust with people very seriously. Any ammana given to him will be managed with ethics and excellence.
Currently, Chris is the sole organizer with New Muslim Circle, but wants to take things further by having a board of directors formed this year and eventually have community members in Calgary, go on to attend Ta'leef Collective's, Refining the Core program to help build more local bench strength.

Thank you for your past contribution to the New Muslim Book bags. We are still distributing the book bags from the contributions you made 2 years ago. Alhamdulillah.
Now, in a effort to take things to the next level, I am asking your donations and help will getting me to attend Ta'leef Academy in Fremont, California. More details here at this link.
I started fundraising for this last year and have managed to collect $1000 so far, but it will likely end up costing $4500. So I've got $3500 to go.
There are roughly 230 donors from 2017's Book Bag Campaign, and if all 230 donors contributed $15 this would make up the amount needed.
Whether you choose to donate or not to my efforts to attend "Refining the Core" at Ta'leef Academy, please at least share my campaign on your social media profiles to give a boost.
