Assalamu Alaikum Wa RahmatAllahi Wa Barakatu,  

  About 4 years ago, we founded Islam By Touch with the objective of making Islam accessible to blind individuals. We chose to begin our journey by transcribing in to Braille the Saheeh International English Meanings of the Quran. Alhamdulillah, with the support of the Muslim community, we've been able to produce and distribute over 350 copies of the English Meanings of the Quran in braille  to blind people and Muslim Institutions all over the world. Most of our work is in the United States, but we have sent English braille Qurans to Canada, the UK, Germany, All over Africa, Pakistan, and many other countries. Alhamdulillah, through these distributions, we have been able to bring the English translation of the word of Allah to the blind community; opening the doors for equality.

    As we've distributed these braille books, we have been busy on many other fronts in our mission. First, Alhamdulillah, we have developed the Islam By Touch  app for Apple Devices which is the first Muslim app created with blind people in mind. The Islam By Touch app contains the English meanings of the Quran, Hadith, and other Islamic literature which is all 100% accessible to blind users. We have also been able to bring awareness of the blind community to Muslims at large by giving Jumuah Khutbas, hosting family nights and work shops around the United states to educate about blind people within Islamic history and on how to interact and treat blind and disabled people with respect and dignity. Furthermore, Allah has allowed us the opportunity to give dawah to the blind community. In July 2019, we went to the worlds largest blind convention and setup the first ever dawah table with blind accessible dawah materials. Alhamdulillah, by the will of Allah, your support has helped us reach these accomplishments. We are extremely grateful to each and everyone who has taken the time to share our cause, given us a platform where we could share our story, and financially provided so we may continue our work. However, as much as we are extremely excited about what we have achieved, our journey is nowhere near complete. We have many more strides to take and we come to you asking for your financial support so that we can continue our efforts during these uncertain times.

    As you can see, we have covered a lot of road in making Islam accessible and available to the blind community. However, due to the current global health crisis, we are in danger of not being able to continue this invaluable work. All of our fund raising efforts have come to a complete stand still with no end in sight and If things don't get better sooner rather than later Islam By Touch will have to shut down operations. This is where you come in. With your support and donations we will inshaAllah, be able to survive and continue to  make a meaningful and positive impact. We need to come together to give every blind person their rightful place within the Muslim community. Blind individuals have as much to offer the Ummah as their sighted brothers and sisters in Islam and humanity. It is up to each and every Muslim to not only recognize and acknowledge the value, voice, and presence of the blind community, but to embrace, and actively work towards positively changing the attitudes and perceptions of blind people and their abilities. It is up to this expansive family of brothers and sisters to come together and truly bring forth a positive change for the benefit of every Muslim.
