What is this for?

Provide economic assistance to families in need, and support relief organizations on the ground. Many families are in need of both emergency relief, and assistance with rebuilding their lives.

Who is Harvey?

Hurricane Harvey made landfall on Friday, August 25, 2017 as a Category 4 Hurricane, the worst to hit Texas in over 10 years. cHouston and South East Texas has had its worst flooding event ever recorded. 50 inches of rain are expected to have fallen by the end of the coming week. 

Thousands of homes have been destroyed, flooded and over 2000 people have already been rescued. Hospitals are being evacuated, shelters are filling up. The National Guard is being brought in. 

Many of us living in Houston, if fortunate enough to be dry in our homes, are limited by the road conditions from being able to lend a helping hand. Islamic Relief USA is providing disaster relief already. We know many families will be homeless, and in dire need of both physical and financial assistance as the storm continues to pound our city with unprecedented levels of rain.

Who will provide the assistance?

I have spoken to contacts with Islamic Relief USA, they are providing both emergency relief services, and case management for people that are in need.
