Urgent appeal for donations for the House of Allah!

The Muslim community in Hamilton has grown rapidly in the last 5 years due to the arrival of a significant number of Muslim immigrants, internal migration of Muslims within New Zealand as well as the arrival of some refugees. This is not a surprise considering Hamilton is a vibrant and a rapidly growing city. 

Within Hamilton, there is a significant need for a multi-purpose Islamic Centre. The proposed centre in Rototuna will serve as a much needed Masjid and cater for essential services for Muslims including Islamic education.

Khadija Charitable Trust (KCT) (previously known as North Hamilton Muslem Community) was established in 2011 by Dr Mohamed Bahr a well known and respected Cardiologist, who is currently chairing the board of trustees. The trust currently operates Masjid Khadija and Dar-Al-Uloom School at the back of a Medical Clinic which Dr Bahr runs in Rototuna, Hamilton NZ.

Due to the shortage of appropriate land available in Hamilton; KCT had to move quickly when an opportunity came to put an offer on a section that was available for sale to protect the future of the community. 

KCT has signed a contract to purchase a 2400 sq metre section in Rototuna Hamilton to build the community centre. The price of the land is NZ $1.7 million and a deposit of NZ $100,000 has already been made to hold the land with the final settlement date for the rest of the amount being 20th of August 2019. Failure to do so will result in both loss of the section and the deposit amount.

KCT is hence launching this urgent global appeal to secure the necessary funds over the next 5 weeks to settle the land payment after which the construction of the Islamic Centre can happen as funds are collected.
