It’s time to engage more with the Quran and love it!

We spent long time looking at Muslims' needs of the Quran and evaluating the best way for them to engage with it. We found these common problems:

• When I am stressed, I can’t find the right verses for my situation at that time
• Why do many of us still engage more with other stuff like music instead of the Quran?
• Why I can’t listen to interpretation (Tafseer) of a verse instead of reading it.
• Why is it often hard to find the entire Quran recited by certain beautiful reciters we come across?
• Why do we still not realize that the Quran is for all times, and how do we engage more with it?
  

We decided to build the perfect Holy Quran platform

We know that the Quran is a living miracle, and we also know that the majority of Muslims like hearing the Quran more than reading it, that’s why we decided to focus on the audio aspect of it before building other beautiful features on the top of that.

Let’s see what this app can do!

1- Verses for every moment: We are building a large database of verse playlists that are related to moods and situations we are facing in our lives. Many Muslims tend to play the Quran audio randomly when they feel they want to listen to the Quran. But with the Moods and Situations that are available in our app, you will be able to get the right verses for your mood which helps in engaging more with the Quran.

2- Swipe to listen to “The Clear Quran" translation: Imagine if you can get a clear and simple translation for the verse that you are listening to by just a swipe! without even looking at the phone. We are offering the audio version of “The Clear Quran” translation on the app to allow users to get the translation on the go, without looking at the app. And if you are more of a visual user, you can still listen to the verse while reading its translation on the screen.

3- Get the full Interpretation (tafseer) for the verse by one click: We are also building a large database of audio interpretations for the Holy Quran to be able to get it in one click once you need it. Whether it’s Ibn Kathir, Al-Saadi, or even the other simple and recent interpretations of the Quran that relate to our current life.

4- One quality database for all reciters worldwide: You don’t have to look anywhere on the web to listen to the Quran from your favourite reciter. We are getting all the reciters from all over the world in our platform. If you couldn’t find your favourite one, contact us and we will be happy to get his Mushaf on the app.

5- Verse Motion: What if you can watch a high quality video about the big bang of this universe while listening to a verse that relates to it. What if you can watch not "imagine” a real plant growing in HD while listening to the verse that related! that what you will be able get in Holy Quran app, and this will increase your engagement with Quran to a higher level.

6- Transliteration: If you are not an Arabic speaker don’t worry, you will be able to know how to pronounce the verses as they are.

7- Holy Quran layouts for reading while listening: Though the app is focusing more on the audio aspect, we know that we can’t build a Holy Quran app without Mushaf for users to read from, whether reading only or while listening.

8- Build your own playlist: While you listen to the Quran from beautiful reciters, you will start engaging with some verses more than others. You can save those verses and organize them on a custom playlist. So you will be able to have a playlist for X mood or Y situation. You don’t have to follow our own playlists in moods and situations, build your own! :)

9- Advanced verse controls: In Holy Quran app, you have full audio control for the verse. You can repeat from this verse to that verse x times, fast forward, shuffle and other advanced audio controls for the verse.

10 .. and much more: Holy Quran app is not just an app, it’s a platform that will be offering anything that related to the Quran. Not just that, but we will open our API in a later stage where other developers can build innovative and interesting apps on a top of it. We have a big vision for it, and we know we should start small and grow fast.

Holy Quran version 1.0 is just the beginning. Keeping you engaged with Quran is a long term commitment. So we’ll never stop listening to your feedback and adding more features.

Our Story

We love the Quran and we know that the people of the Quran are the people of Allah. Our team was formed organically for one goal; to get people, especially Muslims, to understand and engage more with the Quran. We started that by publishing a thematic English translation of the Quran called “The Clear Quran”. Having spent years at work on that enormous project, now we want to take what we built to the next level by developing this platform that will allow you to engage 24/7 with the Quran.

Core Team:

• Dr. Mustafa Khattab - Content Lead: Dr. Mustafa Khattab is an authority on interpreting Islam’s Holy Book, the Qurân. He received his Ph.D., M.A., & B.A. degrees in Islamic Studies in English with Honours from Al-Azhar University. Khattab is the Adjunct Muslim Chaplain at Brock university, a member of the Canadian Council of Imams, a lecturer of Islamic Studies in English at Al-Azhar University, and a Fulbright interfaith scholar. He has served an Imam in the U.S.A. and Canada since 2007. Khattab taught a course on Islamic Studies at Clemson University (OLLI Program) 2009-2010. He is the author of The Nation of Islam (2011) and contributor to the Encyclopedia of Muslim American History (2010). His forthcoming work is Outfoxing Fox News: A “Fair & Balanced” Study of Fox News Coverage of Islam & Muslims after 9/11.

• Ahmed Abdulrahman - Tech Lead: With over 10 years of software development experience, Ahmed exposed to a wide spectrum of software product types and technologies; from building enterprise intranets & public services automation to social platforms and mobile applications.Past experience: Full-stack Web Development, iOS & Android Development, UX Design, Agile Practicing and Team Leading. Technologies; Java, PHP, Swift, Objective-C, JavaScript, MongoDB, MySQL..

• Abu-Isa Webb - Content Associate: is moderately clever and severely over-opinionated, leading to the creation of a disproportionately large number of bad ideas, but also a larger absolute number of good ideas than average. One such good idea was Siraj Publications, which he started in early 2015.

• Mohamed Hassan - Product Lead: An accomplished result-driven professional with 7+ years of digital product experience. Excels in developing initiatives to increase product efficiency & provide insights to online performance as well as building an understanding of typical customer's needs.
