In just a few months, the population of the refugee camp in Calais, France has skyrocketed to 6,000.

We are a group of Muslims in Missouri volunteering to provide basic medical relief and serve as translators in the Calais refugee camp from January 8th - 16th 2016. Our goal is to address both people's immediate needs and leave behind something sustainable . We will be assisting in current efforts and volunteering with Global First Responder, a non-profit organization serving two primary functions: 

       1) to act as a centralized network for individuals and agencies involved in relief work worldwide, 

       2) to organize and execute mission trips to areas in need focusing not only on health care delivery but health education and improvements on community infrastructure.

In order to do this, we first need help covering our traveling expenses from the US to France as well as the cost of rental vans and humanitarian aid. This is where YOU come in.

From Missouri to Calais

The volunteers will be joining a trip organized by Global First Responder (GFR), a medical relief agency based out of Missouri. The trip is planned for January 8th-16th. We will be treating minor illnesses and providing basic first aid to refugees living in the camp in Calais. We will be working out of medical caravans already in place there as well as checking in on patients who can't make it to the caravans whenever possible. We will also be giving out hygiene kits, blankets, scarves, gloves, and other necessities for the cold winter months. 

Where Your Money Will Go

All money (tax-deductible) will go directly to GFR, a 501c3 US aid organization dedicated to improving the lives of humanity across the globe through health care education, health care delivery and improvements in community infrastructure. Our primary goal is to raise money to cover the cost of travel (airline tickets, transport to Calais, etc.) for 4 volunteers. Any additional money raised will go towards covering the cost of rental vans and purchasing humanitarian aid. 

"Nobody deserves to live this way" 

As it gets colder, the need for medical care is growing. Doctors currently there already treat over 100 people every day for numerous issues diseases and injuries - many related to the horrific sanitation in the camp. In the words of one recent volunteer: "The conditions are beyond awful – the image of what we encountered in the Jungle still haunts me. No sanitation, no healthcare, no security, no refuse collection, and no roads – just tracks of stinking mud full of litter and human detritus.".

In the absence of an active government and major international relief agency presence, refugees in Calais must largely rely on the volunteered time of individuals (like ourselves) and small non-profits for their medical care.

Donations to relief efforts go hand in hand with volunteers - one cannot work without the other. Some of our volunteers will be providing basic medical care and some will serve as translators for the patients and health professionals.
