Help get Muslim-Banned mom to her dying 2-year-old son in California and help the family with expenses during this heartbreaking time.

The Heartbreaking Story

The Muslim Ban is keeping a mother, Shaima Swileh, a Yemeni national (who's married to a U.S. citizen) who currently lives in Egypt, from her dying son in California. Her son, Abdullah Hassan, who just turned 2 on Dec. 15, suffers from a genetic brain condition - and his health is deteriorating rapidly. He is currently on life support. He was brought by his father, Ali Hassan, to California months ago for medical treatment and is currently at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in Oakland. His mother has not seen him since then and repeated requests for an expedited waiver have been ignored. Abdullah's mother needs to be with him in his last days.

How Your Donations Will Help

We are raising funds to purchase a plane ticket for Shaima to fly to the U.S. immediately to be with her son, once a Muslim Ban waiver is approved. Funds will also cover Abdullah's funeral expenses. Ali needs to be by his son's side at the hospital so Abdullah is not alone in his last days, so we need to raise funds to cover the family's expenses. Please donate to show solidarity with this family!

Shaima Is Reunited With Her Husband and Son

Blessed to have an amazing team and community supporting us through this difficult ordeal!

After a 24-hour campaign in which CAIR-Sacramento Valley filed a lawsuit in partnership with Nimer Law, held a press conference and received massive amounts of support - including 21,000 emails sent to the State Department and Embassy (through MPower Change and CAIR-CA Action Alerts), we did it!

Shaima received a Muslim Ban visa waiver Tuesday morning after months of being separated from her husband, Ali, and son, Abdullah. This visa waiver came after the family had desperately reached out to the U.S. Embassy in Cairo 28 times over many months, and despite their pleas only received automated responses.

In a bittersweet reunion, Shaima flew into SFO on Wednesday night to be greeted by her husband, father-in-law, CAIR and supporters. She is now reunited with her 2-year-old son, Abdullah, who is on life support.

Let's show this family our support as they go through this unbelievably difficult and heartbreaking time and say goodbye to their son. Please continue to donate.

We can't thank you enough for your generosity and support.
