Hi!
My name is Mariam and I am a ballet student. My dream is to attend the Moscow State Academy of Choreography (Bolshoi Ballet Academy) in Moscow Russia. I am the first Iraqi American to be accepted and the second person from Utah to be accepted to train at the Bolshoi Academy. With your support, I will be able to achieve my dream!
With your help, I will be able to study classical ballet in Russia at the Moscow State Academy of Choreography (Bolshoi Ballet Academy), one of the oldest and most established schools for classical ballet training, with some of the most illustrious ballet teachers in the world today.
"With its 240-year history, the Academy is steeped in a rich cultural tradition with a strong curriculum and a pedagogy that focuses on strength, musicality, clarity, and personal expression. Most of the Principal Dancers of the Bolshoi Ballet graduated from the Academy and are among the leading dancers in the world today" (Bolshoi Ballet Academy website).
I was accepted to study at the Bolshoi Academy for one year beginning September 1, 2016, and returning June 30, 2017. However, the tuition is $22,565.00 for the year, so I am hoping to raise $2,200 so I can attend for one month. I will have classes six days per week. My classes will include classical ballet, folk dance, historical dance, modern dance, and gymnastics. I will also take Russian language classes every day.
All funds donated will go to Bolshoi Ballet Academy to pay for the cost of tuition.

Update on Mariam
Mariam at Bolshoi Academy
Hello,
Mariam is enjoying her studies and her time in Moscow. She is now starting to see some improvement in her ballet technique.
She has time in the evening and the weekends to explore Moscow, and go to the store to buy toilet paper - haha. The students have to provide their own. She has made some new friends from Australia, New York, Korea , Hong Kong, and Canada. But she really enjoys the younger students. They are very friendly and chat with her every day..
I am attaching the picture below of Mariam and her classmates. They bought flowers and candy for their teacher for "Teachers Day." Their teacher is in the middle holding the flowers.

Mariam at Bolshoi Academy

Mariam is settled in at the Bolshoi Academy! Her current roommate is from Australia and they are expecting another roommate at anytime.
She is enjoying her classes, as well as her Russian language class. She has only been able to get out to see the city once, but in the coming weeks, she hopes to be able to explore more.
