We have been fighting for twenty years to exonerate Adnan Syed, who has been incarcerated since 1999, arrested at the age of 17:

• ​1998 - Adnan Syed & Hae Min Lee were dating off & on
• January 1999 - Hae Min Lee went missing
• February 1999 - Hae Min's body discovered, Adnan arrested
• April 1999 - Adnan indicted
• February 2000 - Adnan Syed found guilty, sentenced to life in prison
• 2003 - First appeal failed
• 2014 - Serial podcast released, brings Adnan's story to millions
• 2015 - Undisclosed podcast released, uncovering new evidence
• 2016 - Adnan's Story book released by Rabia Chaudry
• 2016 - Adnan's conviction vacated and new trial ordered, state appeals
• 2018 - Decision for a new trial is upheld, state appeals again
• 2019 - Maryland Court of Appeals overturns decision for new trial
• 2019 - The Case Against Adnan Syed 4-part HBO documentary series released

Preparing for Years of Legal Battles & Fees

In the wake of the success of the Serial podcast, we established the Adnan Syed Trust and launched an official fundraising campaign to crowdfund Adnan’s legal defense in 2015 and raised $246,582. Since then the bulk of these funds have been spent in legal and investigative fees, leaving us with currently roughly $60,000 in the Trust. But as many of you may have recently learned, the Court of Appeals, the highest court in Maryland, reinstated Adnan’s conviction. We now have potentially years more of legal battles and fees ahead of us.

If Adnan's story resonated with you, please consider donating to this trust. Your money will go directly to Adnan's defense and associated investigative efforts. If Adnan is released without retrial, acquitted or otherwise exonerated, or if Adnan exhausts his appeals, the remaining money be held in trust for Adnan to use or to donate as he wishes.
