Project: Sochna Mana Hai ( Thinking is Forbidden!)

We are dreamers, and we want these children to be dreamers too. Many of these young people have great dreams. Sadly however, their inability to fund their studies, inability to access opportunities or learn something new in their schools restricts their thinking and ability to imagine things beyond a certain horizon.

Sochna Mana hai: Thinking is forbidden is a satirical twist to the notion of education. We in fact, strive so that these children start to think independently and do not rely on rote learning. 

We not only aspire to teach these children life skills but also life lessons that will help them carve themselves a better future  Here is our journey, from visiting schools to funding studies, to providing new bags and interacting with students in our camps. Organizing the Summer Camps: The Real Deal

We are organizing a summer camp for 300 students from low income backgrounds. The camp will serve as a means of creative and unconventional learning for the students and engagement that will enhance their personal skills. The camp offers public speaking, inter-faith harmony, debates, creative writing, dramatics and arts, subjects that are otherwise never taught to them in schools. In addition, traditional subjects such as English, Urdu, Science and Maths will also be taught to enhance their knowledge and provide practice.    

Dream to Education for All is a student run NGO and we have recruited outstanding volunteers after a scrutinized process, most of whom are university students to assist us for the summer camp. 

Making it Happen

We need logistics for the summer camp that include:

1.Arts supplies
2.Operational Expenses
3.Fuel for backup generators
4.General Stationary 
5.Refreshments

The Impact:

We aim to provide these children with a brighter future. These children wander aimlessly on the streets otherwise. A potential target for criminals. By supporting our cause you are not only imparting hope to these young ones but also keeping them safe from potential threats.

The Details

In order to address the quality- related issues that are prevalent in our society, Dream to Education for All will be launching program under the banner of ‘Sochna Mana Hai’ ( thinking is forbidden!). The program will be held from 25th July to 18th August 2015.

The organization will be focusing on two programs simultaneously, that are personality development and community development. The former will be conducted through regular lectures on Spoken English, Creative Writing and Public Speaking in which children would be able to understand a proper way in order to express their feelings and issues that encompass them.

Community development will be taught by conducting healthy discussions and group or task based activities. Co-existence, diversity and tolerance will be one area to focus. Apart from this, we will make students, aware of the common social issues in an effective way. Social issues such as gender as a mechanism of social exclusion, child labour, beggary and corruption, etc. will be discussed with them in some depth by showing them documentaries and taught by volunteers that have prior knowledge of these issues or have worked upon them.

At the end of this program, the students will be able to express them in a better manner and understand the social issues in a more rational way. We expect that this program will help the students to devise solutions by pondering over them. They would be able to understand that each being, even they themselves can be the agents of a change rather than taking dictation from someone else.
