Rethinking masjid giving!

Dallas' Masjid Al-Islam needs your donations to start our "Power Your Ideas Initiative."

Our initiative turns typical masjid-giving on its head. Rather than giving to the masjid and expecting unspecified results, our initiative seeks to give resources to individuals in our community!

That’s no typo. Our masjid is going to spend resources on individuals.

Here’s how it works:

We allow anyone to submit ideas to our initiative. You don’t have to be a distinguished member, on the board or even an uncle. Even as a sister, if you want to give back, we want your idea. We then partner you with individuals who can make your idea come alive! We work with you to plan your idea, put together timelines, create advertisements, secure funding all on your own. We work with you to book our space and assist financially when possible. All the while we keep your personal growth, not money or sales or margin, as the measure of our success.

We’re here to build people!

Your idea can be anything as long as you want to benefit others, we’ll work with you!

Have a favorite recipe you want to teach others? Let’s use the masjid kitchen to teach others how it’s done. Do you love graphic design? Let’s do an intro session to get people interested. Do you want to help others apply for jobs or college? Let’s set something up?

You’re in charge of the idea’s and we’re here to help!

Together we’re here to learn important organization, management, communication, and leadership skills that we hope will make us all better in serving Allah.

Our initiative operates on the following principles:

1.    Everyone has something to give and we can all learn from anyone. It does not matter if you are distinguished or not you matter!

2.    The measure of success is our growth in skills and character. We understand that not every project will be a success monetarily or by attendees. But as long as we are learning we have succeeded.

3.    Sustainability. All projects must be structured to be operationally sustainable. This means teaching others not only how to manage funds but also avoid cults-of-personality by developing good leadership skills.

But we need your help to get us started! We’re hoping to raise just $2,500 to act as the initial seed money for our initiatives! From there on out all our projects will work to sustain funds for future projects and InshAllah you will never here for asking for money again!
