Everyone deserves to celebrate Eid with dignity. We often spend days preparing our outfits, excited to celebrate Eid with our friends and families. And in our excitement, we often take our lifestyle for granted. We forget that it is a privilege to have the financial means to dress well during Eid. We forget the blessing of having a family and a community to celebrate amongst. We forget that this celebration is not confined to our family and friends, but it is a celebration for Muslims across this world.
This year the Muslim Students Association is collaborating with Paani, a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization to provide Eid clothing for Muslim orphans in rural Sindh in Pakistan. With USD $20, we can provide a new set of cultural clothing and a pair of sandals/ shoes for orphans between the ages of 2 and 12.
During this blessed celebration, let us not forget about our brothers and sisters. Let us embody the prophetic tradition. Let us want for our brothers and sisters, what we want for ourselves.
