A Man Threatens to Murder a Muslim Family and Pulls a Gun on a Husband, Wife and Four Children (Youngest 3 Years Old)

The Ayoub family was house shopping when the suspect threatened to kill the family because they were Muslim. He then went into his home and took out the above gun and threatened them with it. When we heard of this story 3 days later there was little to no media coverage and the suspect was let out of jail within 24 hours. We held a press conference, met with the prosecuting attorney, and secured an attorney for the Ayoub family for free and the net result is that he was charged with a hate crime.

People's Civil Rights Should Not Depend on Whether They Can Afford to Defend Them or Not

CAIR-Missouri is in the heart of the United States. We live in a state where hate crimes against American Muslims are skyrocketing and we need to establish a strong legal fund to provide free legal representation to American Muslims. Often, it's those who are the least financially able to defend themselves who are the target of discrimination and hate.
