DC MIST, short for the DC Muslim Interscholastic Tournament, is an annual tournament that brings together high school-aged youth to compete in a variety of events. We currently have over 1,000 participants and costs exceeding $50,000. Support local high school youth by supporting DC MIST!

DC MIST brings together high school-aged youth from all around DC, Maryland, and Virginia for an event-filled tournament weekend. Competitors participate in over 30 different competitions, ranging from photography to debate to basketball. MIST helps foster the talents of these high schoolers as they go on to become tomorrow's leaders.

The effect of bringing together talented high schoolers from the region lasts much longer than their high school careers. MIST competitors have gone on to study in America's top academic institutions, start up successful companies, and help build budding communities across the United States. For Muslim competitors, the bonds they make with their brothers and sisters help propel them into a life of community activism. For friends of other faiths that compete, they are immersed in an Islamic environment and get to witness, first-hand, the spirit of Muslims.

Putting on an event of this magnitude is no cheap venture. With over 1,000 participants, and an additional programming each year, our costs only continue to increase. Venue costs for the main tournament, alone, exceeds $40,000. Our sports tournaments each exceed $1,000. Our awards ceremony costs over $6,000. Additional costs include prizes for the top competitors, trophies for award winners, food and parking for judges and volunteers, honorariums for speakers, and much more.

One important aspect of MIST is that it is exclusively volunteer-run. There is no form of compensation for the people that organize the tournament. Often times, the organizers pay for tournament needs out of their own pocket.

We are currently the premiere tournament for high school youth in the DC/MD/VA area, and we want to keep it that way. With your support, we can expand our programming and provide much more for our competitors.
