Planting the Seeds of Prophetic Inheritance in Detroit 

As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh

With immense gratitude and joy, we share the news that Allah, Most High, has given us a building. By the Lord’s grace we were able to make a cash purchase of 7810 and 7824 Southfield Fwy. Detroit, Michigan as well as the adjoining parking lot. 

The properties have also been dedicated (waqf) to Allah, Most High, to serve the three objectives of: 

• Sacred Knowledge: learning and teaching it, with proper chain of transmission (sanad);
• Purification of the soul: ridding and cleansing the soul of vice;
• Inviting (dawa) to Allah, Most High. 

How Can You Help?

As with many properties in this neighborhood of Detroit, the facility is in need of repairs and renovations to bring it up to code and make it a safe and functional space. 

We are raising funds to allow us to renovate the areas used for prayer, teaching, gatherings of remembrance and salawat, and to enable us to provide humanitarian and social services to the surrounding neighborhoods. 

Keep the Momentum Going

Work has already started to clean up and renovate the existing building and surrounding areas. Our founders, teachers, students, and volunteers have all pitched in to get the ball rolling and enable us to starting utilizing the facility. 

A Green Vision for the Motor City 

Beyond the immediate needs to bring the property up to code and allow us to begin fully utilizing the space, we are planning a phased, environmental-friendly "green restoration" of the entire facility, in sha Allah. 

This would include incorporating energy-efficient building materials, solar and renewable energy generating technologies, and the principles of permaculture to create a thriving, sustainable, and ecologically friendly home for Dar Al-Rahma. 

An Endowed Legacy

Please take the time to read the following "Statement of Endowment" (waqf) that was made by our teacher Habib Umar, say Amin to the prayers and recite Fatiha for these intentions afterwards:

     Praise be to Allah; and may Allah pray upon, grant peace to, and bless His slave, the elected, the chosen, the selected, our master Muhammad, the guide and director to Him; and may these prayers, peace and blessings be upon his family, companions, and all those connected to him, and also upon his forefathers and brothers from the prophets and messengers, all their families, companions, and followers in goodness until the Day of Judgement.

     To proceed: we have accepted what the felicitous (muwaffaq) brothers have gifted of the following property: the two buildings and the adjacent and adjoining parking lot [at 7810 Southfield Fwy, Detroit, Michigan].

     We have endowed (waqf) all of that to Allah, Blessed and Exalted, for the purpose of serving the three objectives of:

    1. Sacred Knowledge: learning and teaching it, with proper chain of transmission (sanad);

    2. Purification of the soul: ridding and cleansing the soul of vices;

    3. Inviting to Allah, Blessed and Exalted; and all of the interests of believing men and women that are related to these three objectives.

     We have endowed the aforementioned properties for this purpose with a valid, Islamic endowment (waqf). [This endowment] is eternal and everlasting; [the endowed property] may not be sold, purchased, gifted, or [the intended purpose be] changed.

     We ask the Most Merciful (Al-Rahman) to accept this and to make it a joy to the Master of the two worlds, [Muhammad], the Beloved of the King of Kings. We ask Allah to bless it, to bless those who maintain it, and to bless all that occurs there. We ask Allah to make it endure, in good repair and activity until the end of time. We ask Allah to make [Dar Al-Rahma] a treasure on the day of Judgement for everyone who supports it, contributes, participates and works on it.

     May Allah accept this from us and from them; may Allah make the multiplied reward of any of these works that are loved by the Beloved Mustafa reach the souls of his children, the people of his cloak (kisa’), the people of his house, his companions, his forefathers and brothers from the prophets and messengers, the Sadah Ba Alawi, all the people of the prophetic family, all of the friends of Allah (awliya’) who are hidden in His knowledge, our parents, the Muslim parents of those who supervise and support this effort in specific, and the souls of all Muslims until the Day of Judgement in general; and may this [all and the reward of Fatiha] be donated to the presence of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

*Any funds collected for Phase I of the renovation that are in excess of actual expenses will be rolled over to support Phase II remodeling costs in the future, in sha Allah.
