COVID-19 URGENT APPEAL

The COVID-19 outbreak has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. And as this outbreak continues to  grow and affect hundreds of thousands of individuals all around the world, we need to remember the displaced.

THE PROBLEM

In many poverty and conflict-ridden countries, COVID-19 is spreading fast, without education or awareness campaigns to help prevent this outbreak from taking over entire communities of people. 

In various refugee camps, there have been an increasing number of COVID-19 cases, yet preventative measures are weak. Unfortunately, it is expected for COVID-19 to spread  fast in refugee camps and the like, due to lack of general hygiene and inadequate sanitation. In some of these refugee camps, for example in Syria, there is also limited to no access to medical care, and no systems in place to monitor and respond to the virus. 

While there have been no reported cases of  COVID-19 in Yemen - we are preparing for a potential outbreak as neighbouring countries have been affected. 

THE SOLUTION

ONSUR’s primary goal is to help the refugees and internally displaced families in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and Lebanon, and provide them with emergency hygiene kits,  and preventative education on COVID-19.

These awareness sessions are vital - especially when displaced refugees often don’t  have access to electricity, or the news, or social media to get constant updates. They don’t know what to expect, how to prevent it, and what they need to survive this pandemic. 

Each family-sized hygiene kit includes:

- Hand Sanitizers

- Disinfectant Soap

- Shampoo

- Antimicrobial Wipes

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP

 Please help today to ensure that we are prepared and can do all we can to contain this emergency. 

$12 - Covers a family's basic hygiene essentials such as hand sanitizers, disinfectant soap, shampoo, and antimicrobial wet wipes.

$20 - Provides clean water to refugees and internally displaced families for one month.

$50 - Provides a one-day training on health and hygiene awareness for at least 100 vulnerable internally displaced persons (IDPs).
