Urgent Appeal: Help Re-Open Masjid "Centro Islamico" 

Your help is the key that will unlock the doors to this masjid and Islamic center. Can you help us open the doors this year?

Alhamdulillah, with your generous support we were able to raise what we needed to purchase the property. In order to open the doors to pray inside, host Non-Muslims and re-start our many programs, we need $550,000 to complete the Centro Islamico Masjid. Just imagine the reward you will get for all the worshippers who pray there and all of those who may embrace Islam!

Here's how it looks inside right now:

Currently, our community is without a center. We moved out of our previous rental location. Most of our programs and services are have stopped. We have the building there, but it's not quite ready for use. 

To complete this project and open the doors to the Latino Muslim community and their Non-Muslim neighbors, the building needs to be converted from an industrial building to a Masjid and Islamic Center. With your continued generous support, we may once again offer non-Muslim tours, use our production studio, stream our weekly classes, and conduct our Islamic history museum tours.

Over 160 people embraced Islam over three years at our old location.  Hundreds of new Spanish speaking Muslim families come in for our services in the city of Houston, Texas. 500+ Million people worldwide view the media that we create.

WHO WE ARE?

We are a Latino Muslim Community led by Latino Muslim Leaders and Educators who have taken it upon ourselves to establish Islam among the Spanish speaking community in America and around the world. For the past, near three years we were renting a unit which has been featured on many national and international mainstream media outlets. Over 160 people embraced Islam in our current facility in only three years and we now serve hundreds of new Spanish speaking Muslim families in the city of Houston, Texas. We provide a welcoming environment for people to come to get to know one another, eat together, pray together, learn, teach and grow as individuals and as families. 

But we were told we must vacate the building since our lease has expired and now that we have an industrial building we need to build it out even better than our previous rental facility.  After consulting many of the Muslim scholars and leaders in America who advise us for our 18 years, we were told that it's time to build a permanent center and then finally found the perfect building by the mercy of Allah.  Anyone who ever visits Houston is more than welcome to visit our Masjid and Islamic Center to see how we carry out our vision of transforming lives into productive global citizens collaborating for the common good of humanity!

What kind of Masjid?

We’re talking about Islamic programs in Spanish and English streamed online worldwide, educational classes, physical and social activities, youth development, faith, health, spiritual and relationship counseling. 

Who are we?

IslamInSpanish is an educational non-profit organization that was established out of the need to educate Latinos about Islam in the Spanish language worldwide after the devastating incident of 9/11. It is was founded by Jaime “Mujahid” Fletcher, a Colombian convert to Islam who needs to share Islam with his father and family led to discover that there was no material in the Spanish language. 

After his father’s conversion 3 months later, both of them and his recently converted wife all worked together to bring about a balanced understanding of Islam within a culturally relevant manner which lead to the creation of the 1st cd produced entitled “La Religion de la Verdad” (The Religion of Truth) which became the means to his wife’s aunt embracing Islam before her death from Cancer.

On January 30th, 2016 after 15 years of working out of many Masajid and traveling nationally in the U.S. and throughout Latin America; IslamInSpanish opened the 1st-of-a-kind Spanish Speaking “Centro Islamico” in the city of Houston, Texas and in only 2.5 years 140 people have accepted Islam. 

Via its state-of-the-art Production Studio in 2018 in the month of Ramadan, our video production reached over 14 million people worldwide. IslamInSpanish has currently outgrown its current rental facility and has now acquired a 2-Acre Property with an existing 10,000 Square foot facility newly built 8 years ago. 

Our goal is to reach the 500+ Million Spanish-Speakers that exist worldwide. Today IslamInSpanish represents Muslims in the Spanish language by speaking on the mainstream media outlets such as CNN in Spanish, Univision, Telemundo and has been featured on NPR, The Guardian, L.A. Times, Al-Jazeera, and many other international channels worldwide.

Growing up as a Catholic, Roberto would go to church and attend the usual services and felt he was pretty religious but the more he looked into Islam he felt that many of his doubts were cleared up. He preferred watching and listening to the Spanish Islamic material available from IslamInSpanish online since it was in his native language.
