My Journey Begins

My name is Bayinah Shaheed, a 17-year old home-schooled senior on a journey to improve my Islamic Studies to better understand my religion, the language of the Quran and share my experiences with the Muslim and non-Muslim communities.  I have been blessed to have the opportunity of being accepted in the Bayyinah Dream program in Eusless, TX with Ustadh Adam Jamal, Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan and others for the Fall of 2017. This is a grand step to understanding and sharing my beautiful faith as a teacher for others.  But I need your support to help me get there!

About the Bayyinah Dream Program: 

The Dream Program is Bayyinah's most ambitious, intensive 9 month course. It includes a rigorous curriculum of Classical Arabic and Quran along with other important Islamic texts. The Dreams program main purpose is to give students direct access to the Quran that will help them venture out into excelling their studies elsewhere in Islamic Studies. 

Ustadh Adam Jamal is the head teacher for the Bayyinah Dream program. He teaches a large percentage of the Dream curriculum, that is the technical aspects of the arabic language e.g grammar, morphology and many more. Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan who the founder of the Dream program, teaches the philosophical and historical aspects of the arabic language. Throughout the year, guest teachers like Shiekh Omar Suleiman, Shiekh Abdul Nasir Jangda and many more visit the dream campus to teach students some aspects of Islamic studies.

After the Bayyinah Dream Program I wish to further my studies abroad in Morocco and Malaysia then attend Zaytuna College in Berkeley, CA. 

More About Me

I was born in Detroit, MI and moved to Maryland in 2012. I started studying Quran at the age of 3, attending Saturday classes at our local Masjid in Detroit and my mother teaching me tajweed at home everyday after-school. After moving to Maryland I was home-schooled from 9th through 12th grade, learning and experiencing a lot of my education through people and everyday life. I became a girl scout ambassador with my local masjid's girl scout group. We have local food drives, attend MAS events, have weekly Halaqa meetings and host different events to bring the community together in a beautiful & empowering way. 

I didn't grow up passionate for studying the Quran and my religion until I was 14 years old. I was able to understand my faith and the Glorious book through the spiritual teachings of my mother but wanted to know more so I began to seek out opportunities that would help me reach my goal and I did! 

In 2014, I was awarded a full-ride scholarship to attend Middlebury's Summer Arabic immersion program for 4 weeks then continued my self-studies of the language on my own for a year afterwards. Then in 2016, I attended Zaytuna's College Summer Intensive for six weeks in Berkeley, CA and that is when I began my studies for not only Arabic but the Quran too. After Zaytuna, I continued my Classical Arabic studies with the Fawakih program at my local masjid and in December I attended their 2-week winter intensive in which I was the youngest in one of the highest levels! Fawakih has truly been a blessing in helping me embark on my journey in understand and learning the beauty of the Quran. 

Along with the acceptance from the Bayyinah Dream Program, I have embarked into another part of my journey into opening doors of understanding, beauty and glorification. 

Overall Impact

You are supporting me to study Islam! What is a greater reward than that! The scholarship money with support me with tuition, books, travel and any necessary expenses the Dream program may need. By supporting my studies I'll be opening doors of beauty, glorification and understanding! I will be better equipped to give Dawah to many communities after returning home with the vast amount of knowledge I have attained. It has always been a passion of mine to teach and show others a beautiful representation of what Islam means and what Islam is. 

Update: Bayyinah was able to award me a scholarship to help pay for the Tuition; Tuition: 7500 - 4000 (the award amount)  =  3,500 (from my campaign) 4000 is what I will have left over to use for Housing and any other learning expenses. 

Funds will go to Tuition, Housing, Food, Books and any other LEARNING necessities!
