This launchgood campaign on behalf of Rahim Barak and his family. Below is a personal post from Rahim Barak's eldest son, Fawad Barak, the day he heard of his father's death.

"Assalamualkum Wa Rahamtulahi Wa Barakatuhu,

إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ

My beloved father, Rahim Barak, returned to his Creator on the night of January 20th. He was shot and murdered by Taliban insurgents during the siege of the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul. My father was a beautiful individual who aimed to emulate the teachings and practices of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). My father struggled and strived constantly to better himself as an individual and was the most selfless human being I’ve ever met. My father made immense sacrifices for his children to achieve the dreams that he could never achieve. Ever since my father came to America he always worked hard and at one point he worked four jobs in one time so that one day he could provide for his family and put them in a position of success. I remember vividly the day I dropped him off at the airport where I embraced him and told him that may Allah grant him a successful trip. As he walked down the tunnel, he turned back one last time and said to me, “Make dua (pray) for me”. Little did I know at the time that instead, he went on a trip to meet the one who Created him and that my duas would be for Allah to forgive him and to grant him the status of Shaheed. As I write this post about my father, the words aforementioned does not do him justice to the type of man he was. For me, he wasn’t known for memorable quotes rather memorable actions such as, consistently attending fajr prayer at the masjid, always aiming to help others before himself, and did whatever necessary for his children to have a life that he could have never imagined for himself. I understand that this is only a test from the Almighty and that nothing overburdens the soul of the believer. My ease comes the way my father left this world and returned to his creator at peace. The greatest test unto a Believer is when a calamity strikes him how does he respond? Ibn Taymiyyah once said that I would rather prefer a calamity that brings me closer to God than a blessing that takes me away from Him. InshAllah if this is a calamity that brings me closer to God then Alhamduilliah.

Continue to pray for my beautiful father who rests with his Creator, continue to pray for my family, continue to pray for those that have been unjustly injured and killed at the Intercontinental hotel, and continue to pray for my beautiful mother who is bearing so much pain as a result of this calamity. InshAllah Khair."
