Independent and Fulfilling Lives

"I want to be independent and be able to support myself and my family. I want to lead a fulfilling life and bring joy to the people I love."


Every adult student with special abilities at MIJ Special Education Hub dreams of such a future.

For example, Mohd Faiz.  Faiz is intellectually challenged and this has affected his life and opportunities. Over the years, Faiz has taken up some odd jobs to support himself and his family financially.

However, he found it hard to stay long in these jobs due to lack of support, acceptance, and understanding. We think Faiz deserves a better chance.
Right now, Faiz is in his final year at MIJ and we are really happy to see him grow with us!


Help Us Fund the "Work Readiness Adult Program" aka WRAP

At MIJ, we want to help our students be better prepared for life beyond school. The 'Work Readiness Adult Program', or WRAP for short is one of our signature initiatives.

Faiz and his good friend Ashraf, who has Autism, together with their other friends who have special abilities - they will be enrolled into WRAP before they graduate and obtain a permanent paying job in future.

WRAP is a holistic programme that provides Faiz and his friends the basic theoretical and practical employment skills. What they learn will help them with work and independence (self-advocacy).

We want to ensure that each and every one of our students can realize their dreams.


We have our own Cafe soon!

We are very excited to have our very own experiential Cafe Concept that will be operating end June 2018, to be a launching pad to allow our students like Faiz a real-life working environment, and yet still very much a safe space for them.

Our Cafe (made up of 2 units) will be located right below the school, where our MIJ team can closely monitor the progress of our aspiring young chefs and restaurateurs.


This cafe will enable our students to learn essential F&B industry skills such as customer service, food preparation and table waiting. We also want our Cafe to be a place where friendships blossom! A place where our guests can interact with our students and help build confidence in themselves.


We hope you can be part of our journey to help students like Faiz and Ashraf. Every help matters, and together we can join hands to build a better future for them.


Where Your Funds Will Go

Amount to raise is to fund the 'Work Readiness Adult Program' (WRAP) and for the purchase of tools and equipment needed to run the cafe example chiller, freezer, ovens, stove and many others - $30,000

In 2017, you guys helped us raise $90k for our school. This year, we appeal you to make a small contribution for our students to gain employment skills.
