Help keep a small, but impactful, Islamic school in Detroit running.

Love, knowledge, strength, and most importantly, sincerity, grow well in small homes!

Al-Ikhlas Training Academy (ATA) is a non-profit, full-time Islamic school, established in the city of Detroit. ATA serves students from kindergarten through 12th grades. As the only K-12 grade Islamic institution in Detroit, we work to serve both low-income families in the city and those in the broader metro Detroit area as well.

It was in the year 1991 when Al-Ikhlas Training Academy first opened its doors as the only Detroit based (Pre-K through 12) private, Islamic school. During that year alone, 130 students enrolled in the school. With four senior students, the first graduating class was the class of 1993.

Since its establishment, we have had 23 senior graduating classes. Those students are attending colleges and universities throughout the United States. Some have obtained degrees in education, finance, engineering, pharmaceuticals, nursing, medicine, law enforcement, and many other disciplines.

Today, a beautiful three story brick building on McDougall Street is home to 250 students and 21 teachers. To some, those may be small numbers, but at ATA we believe that love, knowledge, strength, and most importantly, sincerity, grow well in small homes!

Help us keep that beautiful brick building running, help us continue to educate the students who walk though our doors regardless of their financial status. Donate today to ensure that our basic needs,  as a school, are met. Keep our humble school in your prayers, and make a contribution today to keep it up and running, educating, and inspiring.

Meet the ATA Family

"...Al-Ikhlas Training Academy has helped in giving me my own unique and individual identity in the American society."

  • “Al-Ikhlas Training Academy not only helped better me academically, it taught and trained me on how to become a leader, father, and social activist. Most importantly, ATA taught me how to be the best American-Muslim I can be.” -Ali Algahim, Class of 2012

  • “ATA has made me proud to be Muslim and to walk with my head held high--not ashamed of my religion, and to know my rights. During my time at ATA I learned about the type of Muslim that I must strive to be--balanced, just, kind, loyal, realistic, etc. Therefore, ATA was not just a school for me, it was literally "Al-Ikhlas Training Academy", an institution where I was being trained to be an individual with sincerity and understanding.” -Fanta Doumbia, Class of 2013

  • “What ATA has done for me cannot be easily summed up into a few words, it's almost like trying to sum up what your parents have done for you. In short, ATA has helped in giving me my own unique and individual identity in the American society. ATA taught me that my Muslim identity and my American identity are not separate but instead they are one entity and I do not have to choose between the two. ATA has made me a better son, student, and citizen, but most importantly a better Muslim.” -Jabril Ahmad, Class of 2012

"Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." - Malcolm X

We mention the above quote by Malcolm X because at Al-Ikhlas Training Academy, we put into action this message on a daily basis.

Small class sizes, mid-day prayers, a positive social climate, and an Islamically enriched curriculum are just a few characteristics of Al-Ikhlas Training Academy that help students become, not only academically prepared, but God-conscious individuals as well. With a tool belt like this, ATA students can go into the world and their futures as agents of social change, movers, and shakers. We need young people who are confident in their identity as Muslims as well as Americans, with a realization of their potential and the impact of their voice.

Your contribution, however small or large, matters because you will be supporting the future of young Muslims, from kindergarten to the 12th grade, who will be active participants in their communities, challenging the way Muslims are perceived. In our current climate of anti-Islamic rhetoric, we believe that supporting Islamic schools which foster academic excellence, God consciousness, and a fervor for social activism, is a responsible way to combat that rhetoric.

By donating, you will actively be an agent in raising young, bright, talented Muslim youth of not only the future, but of today. They say it takes a village to raise a child. Let us be that village, as an Ummah, which raises not one but many children.

Deadline Extended: We've Got 5 More Days!

As Salaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh

We pray this message reaches you and your family in the best health and faith.

We just wanted to take a moment in order to thank you for supporting our campaign, service, and overall, the work we do strictly for the sake and pleasure of Allah (s.w.t). It is only because of supporters like you, that we are able to continue providing a formal Islamic education for K-12th grade students residing in the Detroit area and beyond.

As we have currently reached 49% of our intended goal, we have decided to extend the campaign for an extra five days. As a result, we hope that you will continue to assist us by sharing with and encouraging your family and friends to support.

Thank you again and May Allah (s.w.t) reward you for your contribution and make it one that appears on your scale in the next life, Ameen.

Wa Saalamu Alaykum,
