✿ African,  Muslim & Female ✿

In July 2015, Cameroon, my West African country has been violently attacked by a group of extremists. Their vision is to spread terror and to eradicate any form of “non-religious” education. This event has sparked in me the rage for success. Alhamdulillah, I have recently been accepted into an MBA program in Arkansas. I represent a triple minority in my University: African, Female, and Muslimah. I believe that Muslims are balanced believers who should seek knowledge in both fields: secular and religious.

✿ A Little more about me ✿

I did my undergraduate studies in Marketing and Management in Texas, at Stephen F. Austin State University. While in University, I have met brave Muslim sisters wearing hijab, and Muslim brothers who were proud of their Islamic identity. Additionally, they were hardworking students, employees, leaders, AND they made salaah (prayer) on time. That is when I got introduced to Islam as a balanced way of life.

Where I come from, young Muslim females get mixed messages about education. For many people, religious and secular education are mutually exclusive. Coming to America has made me realize that it is possible to achieve balance. I was in an environment where I could grow as a believer, and as a well-rounded Muslimah. 

Under the organization, I was able to:

✔ Be the MSA President from 2012 to 2013

✔ Volunteer in teaching English to Somali refugees

✔ Participate in interfaith pannel discussions

In May 2013, I graduated with a Bachelors in Business Administration. Alhamdulillah. 

✿ Education is a girl’s best friend ✿

They say that a diamond is a girl's best friend. While this might be true, I have discovered that education is even more valuable. Thanks to Allah Most High, I have always been active in supporting education funding, especially for those who cannot finance their own studies. My favorite NGO is UNICEF, because I have been part of their program as a Junior Parliamentarian and Co-president in 2006. The transparency in their work and donations inspired me to voluntarily promote their work at my graduate school.

I am representing a community of African Muslim females who need to be encouraged to dream. My aim inshaAllah after I complete my studies, is to create an organization for Young Muslimahs in Cameroon.This organization will give away scholarships for both Islamic and secular education and conduct workshops to instill self-confidence in Muslim female teens. This is how far your donation will go. By funding my education now, you are planting the seeds, and inshaAllah a beautiful garden will grow in the future.

For the time being, my friends and I have already launched a free, online magazine which promotes the vision. The Magazine is in French, and we used basic resources such as Microsoft Word.

✿ One semester MBA fund ✿

I am the oldest of a family of 4 kids. I have 2 siblings following me, who are about to go to college this Fall. My father is growing older and it will soon become difficult for him to finance higher education for 3 children. I would like to lighten his financial burden, as a means of thanking him for everything he has done for me. 

After graduating from my MBA (and getting a job) ;) , I plan to continue helping my father by funding my younger sibling's education inshaAllah. 

✿ Why "one" semester? ✿

When I got accepted into the MBA program this August, all the graduate assistantship positions for FALL 2015 were already filled. There is no other option for me to get financial aid this semester. For Spring 2015, I plan to get a position as a graduate assistant so the school can sponsor my studies.
