Peaceful Families Project needs your support to continue educating and promoting Islamic models of marriage and positive family functioning to eliminate domestic violence in Muslim Communities!

A UNIQUE APPROACH

Peaceful Families Project (PFP) is the only national NGO dedicated to increasing awareness,  documenting/ researching, and offering Islamic-based solutions to the crisis of Domestic Violence in the widely diverse Muslim community in the United States.   According to PFP's last survey in 2011, over 50% of Muslims had direct or family experience with Domestic Violence.  Yet domestic violence is still a taboo topic in many Muslim communities.  In addition, when Muslim victims seek services they are faced with professionals that cannot accommodate their dietary/religious needs or who due to misinformation and islamophobia believe that Islam is the cause of the violence.

WHAT WE DO

Peaceful Families Project is confronting the epidemic of domestic violence in Muslim communities in the following ways:

• TRAINING: PFP offers training for communities, religious leaders, and mainstream domestic violence service providers in awareness, prevention, and culturally appropriate intervention that meets the cultural and linguistic needs of the full Muslim ummah. 
• RESOURCES: PFP creates resources (curriculum, videos, toolkits, and resource guides) in a variety of languages to offer assistance and comfort directly to victims of domestic violence and their communities.
• RESEARCH: PFP ​supports research on issues related to the Muslim experience of Domestic Violence and best practice methods for prevention and intervention.
• AFFILIATED PARTNERSHIPS: PFP sponsors the Muslim Advocates Network Against Domestic Violence​ which provides support for Muslim Domestic Violence advocates and service providers around the country.
