$150 will support our Muslim Youth in need of mental health services. Will you turn a blind eye to those suffering silently or be part of the Solution?

We need your help in supporting students with spiritual and faith based mental health services on university campuses. University can be a very confusing time; often leaving students feeling lost, isolated and even disconnected from their faith. Through your support, The Muslim Chaplaincy will be able to continue building a spiritually uplifting community that provides students with religious grounding throughout their time at university.

Your donations can make a difference in the lives of hundreds of students in Canada. Perhaps even save a life.

"The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months" (97:3)

Maximize your impact during the last 10 days and ensure you catch Laylatul Qadr by supporting our Muslim youth. For a Night that is greater than 1000 months, every act of charity could be worth a lifetime of service to humanity.

Why Your Support Matters

  • The university environment can be an isolating place for both Muslim and non-Muslim students, without the proper support it can lead to an extremely difficult university experience.
  • In addition to the limited mental health services available for students, there is a dire need for spiritual and faith-based counselling and resources that are accessible on university campuses.
  • Mental health care is expensive. On average, counselling sessions can cost anywhere between $100-200/session!
  • No one is immune to mental health issues and young people need our support more than ever. According to a study by CAMH, young people aged 15-24 are more likely to experience mental health related issues than any other age group.

And that's where the Muslim Chaplaincy comes in.

Through your support, we will be able to continue offering FREE faith-based counseling sessions and Islamic programming rooted in love, mercy and compassion, for students across all 3 of our campuses. Helping them navigate the university experience, surrounded by a strong community.

In the 2019-2020 academic year alone, we held 400 + FREE counselling sessions for students!

What does The Muslim Chaplaincy do?

  • We provide one on one faith-based counselling sessions.

There is no wait list for our FREE sessions.

  • Host unique Islamic programming, (i.e. educational classes, Friday khutbas, external speakers at events), allowing students to foster a meaningful Muslim identity.

  • Provide space for Muslim and non-Muslim students alike to begin, return to or continue their spiritual journey.

Distant from many mosques and community centers, Muslim students sometimes have no one to ask for help when they need it, and that's where our chaplains are on the ground offering them the support and the resources they need. There are over 6,000 students across our three campuses, the University of Toronto St.George, University of Toronto Scarborough and Ryerson University, where we offer our services.

How will your donations be used?

The generosity of supporters such as yourself is crucial to our ability to provide and  continue to offer our services to students in need of them.

The donations will be used to:

  • Fill the currently vacant administrative and Managing Director positions.

  • Enable us to expand our Chaplains roles to full-time positions for additional counselling hours to meet the growing needs.

  • Support the long term financial sustainability of the Chaplaincy for the upcoming academic years.

  • Bring on trained and highly qualified chaplains in order to expand chaplaincy services and counselling sessions at our Ryerson University and University of Toronto Scarborough campuses.

  • Allow for our Chaplain to continue providing accessible counselling/healing sessions to students.

  • Facilitate the expansion of current community programming on the university campuses through Islamic education events.

What does the Muslim Chaplaincy mean to you?

Here are some testimonials about The Muslim Chaplaincy of Toronto.

Dr. Ingrid Mattson

Professor of Theology | Western University

"Any reasonable person who is concerned about the future of Islam in Canada surely understands that a significant increase in responsible and culturally aware religious leaders, role models and mentors in our communities is critical. The Muslim Chaplaincy at the University of Toronto exemplifies the kind of responsive leadership and relevant services desperately needed. Thousands of young people who might otherwise be lost to religious indifference, alienation or even extremism are being served by this program which deserves our utmost support."

Imam Omer Bajwa

Coordinator of Muslim Life at Yale University

"The Muslim Chaplaincy at the University of Toronto strives to offer holistic, inclusive and meaningful experiences of religious learning, practice and engagement. I am continually impressed with their efforts; the more I observe their program, the more I hope and pray for their program to flourish and be emulated by other campuses."

Just 2 Days Left - Almost There!

Alhamdullilah, with your help so far we have raised enough to support 80 free one-on-one counselling sessions and provide mentorship for 4,000+ students on campus. We are just $3,000 short of our goal and we ask you to please continue to share our campaign with your friends and family, every effort makes a huge impact!

As we approach the 29th Night of Ramadan, it could be the Night of Decree where every act of charity could be worth a lifetime of service to humanity. Let us finish Ramadan strong by ensuring that we don't forget our Muslim youth suffering from very real mental health issues. Please keep them and the Muslim Chaplaincy in your duas!

JazakAllah Khayran,
