This campaign is led by volunteers who are raising money for the needy and the underprivileged families, single mothers and orphans in Pakistan.

Alhumdulillah this is our third campaign in row for the month of Ramadan.

Our Cause- Orphans in Need

Our goal is to help feed the orphans in Pakistan.

"And they feed, for the love of Allah, the poor, the orphan, and the captive..." [Surah al-Insaan, 8]   

The believers are protectors of one and other. So when we find those in need, such as the orphans and the widows, we should strive to help them.

We are inspired by our Prophet’s values to strive to shelter, clothe,care and “feed orphans from what we eat.” We are also reminded Prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him) was himself an orphan.

The demand for the food supplies is more than ever and the local donations are trending downwards. This is why we have turned to this crowdfunding platform.

2017 & 2018-Ramadan food hamper drive:

 We delivered food hampers to the orphans and widows in Pakistan that would last for more than a month

We were able to buy flour, rice, eggs, sugar, lentils, beans, cooking oil, milk, biscuits, jam and some other basic food supplies.

Now, with this campaign, we will be able to donate more food hampers this Ramadan. With additional funds, we can replenish the halal food supplies of our local emergency food hampers and provide halal community meals for the needy. With your help, we can reach over 300 people this Ramadan.

Hunger impacts the most vulnerable members of our community, especially the widows and the orphans. As Muslims, we have a responsibility to give generously.  

So, when we find those in need, such as the orphans and the widows, we should strive to help them.

Why We Need To Help 

An orphan is the Muslim Ummah’s collective responsibility. Imagine your child needs food and you cannot afford it. Every parent knows deep in the recesses of his or her heart that they would suffer and sacrifice to feed their child. These children have no one to make those sacrifices for them.

The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said,
"I and the caretaker of the orphan will enter Paradise together like this, raising (by way of illustration) his forefinger and middle fingerjointly, leaving no space in between." [Saheeh al-Bukhari]

It was these words of our beloved Prophet (Sallal laahoo alaihi wassallam)that inspired us to start this project. We are overwhelmed by the devastating need for humanitarian aid across Pakistan. It is our dream to help feed as many orphans as possible and save them from the debilitating hunger many children endure,including abuse, neglect and much worse.

Can there be any kinder and nobler action than helping an orphan?

Let’s do our part and feed the children who have lost their parents and are left without proper means. Your contributions will let us buy food for these children.

1. How are the families selected?

 (i) Families that are assessed by our team.They are contacted to see what the need is like and then added/removed from the delivery list.

(ii) Families that are referred -These are assessed by individuals that are referring them.

Before we are able to add a family to our list permanently, an assessment is required. This covers various details with the family to ensure they are utilizing all available resources, and then determine the level of need from there. In the current economic environment, lots of times we get families that are well off, but due to job losses have suffered deeply and find it tough to make ends meet. Our goal is to help them get back on their feet by supplementing some of their expenses through the food hamper program. 

2.What is the point of food hampers?Why not cash?

Food hampers are meant to provide financial ease to the needy, so they can use finances towards other pressing items. By not distributing cash, we ensure that the money will go towards the basic needs. Although, we do distribute some cash on special occasions around Ramadan and Eid. We acknowledge that by no means this puts an end to the problem on hand, but the satisfaction of being able to help them is unmatched for us and the families that we help.

3. How do we distribute the food?

Orders get placed in advance and subsequently, available volunteers are contacted for the food hamper drive. All the food items are collected from various stores, and hampers are put together in a systematic fashion. Afterwards, the hampers are delivered in different parts of the city, mostly to single mothers who are raising their kids without any financial support. Overall, the whole process takes 6 to 7 hours on the day of the hamper deliveries.
