2 Villages. 2 Continents. 1 Goal.

2 Villages. 2 Continents. 1 Goal: Education

Make a difference and help build two schools, in two different villages, with the same unifying goal - education. This project aims to build a school in rural Logar, Afghanistan as well as the Bugesera District in Rwanda. Early childhood education is extremely important to the development of a country’s citizens at the grassroots level.

All contributions will make a lasting impact by providing quality education, creating access to clean water, and producing sustainable agriculture.

Zam Zam is a humanitarian organization devoted to playing a vital role in eradicating poverty by providing clean, sustainable water and access to quality education to villages across the globe. The term well is a play-on-words and is intended to exemplify how water and education are intertwined. We support orphanages and schools because Zam Zam believes wellness through access to clean water, the empowerment of women, and education are connected.

Afghanistan

Location: Logar, Afghanistan

Beneficiaries: up to 150 orphans

Duration: 2 months

Why? One of the major challenges for Afghanistan is providing educational services in rural areas. According to UNESCO, in Logar province rural gender disparities in education are widespread. Distances between villages can be great and traveling between them dangerous—especially for young children and girls. Educational institutions are often scarce in rural areas and even when accessible, children may have to walk long distances to attend, which may add to gender disparities.

Rwanda

Location: Kasebigege village – Bugesera District, Rwanda

Beneficiaries: 7,500 people (children between ages 3-6) living in over 1,500 households of Kasebigege and neighboring villages

Duration: 2 months

Why? According to Unicef, Rwanda is one of the top-performing countries in sub-Saharan Africa in education. However, these impressive gains in access at the primary level do not match the access at the pre-primary or early-childhood level, which presently stands at only 13%. In Rwanda, pre-primary education is organized in nursery schools for a period of three years for children between the age of 3 and 6. This level of education aims to encourage the socialization of children and stimulate their senses by allowing them to live and play with other children.

Your Generous Contribution

All of the funds raised from this campaign will be equally split between the project in Afghanistan and Rwanda. To complete both projects it will take a total of $80,000.

Please keep in mind that NO donation is too small.

Let Us Come Together

Zam Zam means to "come together" -- so let us come together from all different creeds and cultures to provide the children of Afghanistan and Rwanda with the education that they, like all the children of the world, deserve. Education is life.

    From the Foundation Up

Peace and blessings be upon you,

Tremendous progress has been made since the last update of the nursery school in Bugesera District, Rwanda and the education center in Logar, Afghanistan. All because of the hardworking and dedicated community members. Soon the children will be able to play, grow, and be children. These pictures were taken late September and early October. More up to date pictures will be shared soon!

    Brick by Brick

    Update

Peace and blessings be upon you,

Firstly, and most notably, we would like to thank all of you for your generous donations. As donors you are laying the very foundation to both of these schools in two different countries brick by brick.

We are so grateful that our campaign 'Education is Life' has gained wonderful traction; after hitting our initial benchmark, we have decided to aim for our overall $80,000 end goal.

Construction has respectively begun in both locations thanks to your contributions. At Zam Zam it is of the utmost importance to us that as donors you see the project at hand from start to finish. We have included a few progress photos from both Afghanistan and Rwanda below.

Logar, Afghanistan: Construction for the Orphan center is well underway. The center will have 6 classrooms, irrigation system, water well, solar panels, and a farm.

Bugesera District, Rwanda: With the funds we have raised thus far we have begun the preliminary construction of the nursery education center. We have begun breaking ground and setting the foundation. The center will also provide an irrigation system and garden for the students.

Please let us know if you have any questions and once again thank you to both our long-time contributors and new donors alike. It is your support that allows Zam Zam projects to flourish.

    Sincerely,

    Mashall Rezayee
