We are passively hiring for this position and this application is a talent pool. This means we hope to begin reviewing applications and hire for this position after Ramadan (May 25th).
Mission
Build a coherent team and strategy for marketing LaunchGood and turn it into a household name for fundraising and inspiration within the Muslim community.
Expectations and Responsibilities
- Develop coherent, clear strategy (in form of Google presentation) for 12 month marketing plan/efforts for LaunchGood with SMART goals (updated and re-evaluated quarterly) within 3 months of hire
- Build team (internally with employees and externally with agencies) able to handle all marketing tasks fluidly and maximize business opportunities (recommended to grow staff from current of 2 to 4 by March, but contingent on overall strategy & budget)
- Develop effective communication procedures and oversee weekly check ins (individuals & overall marketing team, and report to CEO)
- Increase direct-marketing revenue - so far in 2019, $4 million was raised for LaunchGood campaigns through direct-marketing efforts (our newsletter, homepage banners, Facebook ads, etc.; 25% of our site-wide online revenue). Double that in 2020 through more effective and new direct-marketing efforts.
- Build a dedicated LaunchGood tribe - triple our social media following and weekly engagement through new and exciting content and multi-faceted social media strategies within 1 year of hire
- Develop a LaunchGood ambassador program - 20+ ambassadors by April, spread out globally, dedicated to sharing LaunchGood and accounting for 5% of 2020 Ramadan Challenge sign ups
- Work with the design and development teams to oversee a review of all website copy and ensure consistency with the new marketing strategy voice by January
Competencies
- Proven ability to create a central marketing plan from which all marketing activities branch off from
- Experience managing email lists and ability to learn our tech, SendGrid
- Experience managing social media ads, especially Facebook
- Experience with SEO and Google Ads
- A clever mind for marketing, understanding that effectiveness and elegance are not always the same thing (e.g. 5 Hour Energy)
- Ability to build and manage a diverse marketing team to cover a variety of functions
- Willing to experiment and try new marketing techniques, even if they fail
- Thought leadership, ability to align marketing strategies with overall business objectives
- Ability to turn content into followers and donors
- Passionate about making data-driven decisions
- Flexibility to be available on sudden notice for flash/viral issues
- Previous relationships with industry experts (agencies, marketers, advertisers, influencers, etc)
- Complete familiarly with the GUMEES market
- 5 years plus experience in a fast-growing B2C environment
